It doesn’t print or scan as fast as they claim, only about 50% as fast as stated. It doesn’t support 5G, which it took me a long time to figure out, as I never could reach support. I couldn’t register the product as the support site wouldn’t accept the serial number. Mind you, I had prepaid for premium support and couldn’t receive any. So, in short, the machine works about 1/2 as fast as claimed and there is no way for me to use the support I paid for.

HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw starts the print quickly from the ECO mode. The most significant difference is the print quality, which has a distinctive texture on the printed paper. The connection and initial setup were easy, as I just followed the mobile application on the phone. The physical shape is more rectangular with minimal height, so the space-saving compared to my old printer is about 30%. The design itself is simple and minimal, with two-tone colors. It looks modern and has a clean feeling. Therefore, there are no issues matching other items in my home office. The touch panel control is vivid and responsive to the touch. I have been using it for the last three months and haven’t experienced any issues. I am pleased with this HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw.

    Rated 2 out of 5 by Paprika from Never recognizes the paper size When I first got the printer setup, it always says that there isn't paper available despite entering the correct paper information (letter size, recycled paper). This glitch prevented me from being able to print anything. My friend, who does printer support for a living, got it so I could print, but I get these annoying messages that I just have to hit ignore. Considering the cost of this printer it makes zero sense why there would be a flaw like this! Other functions like scanning work fine which is mainly what I use the printer for.

Simply following the prompts on the printer's screen allowed me to seamlessly connect to my Wi-Fi network. Since I had already downloaded the HP Smart software, finding the printer through the app was effortless. Once connected, I could print directly via Wi-Fi. The printing speed is impressively fast, and the print quality is crystal clear. After about a week of use, my experience has been exceptional. I highly recommend the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw!

If it is set to legal, it will stick out a bit and still print. If that is not the case and it still gives you issues, you will want to contact HP Support https://support.hp.com/us-en and have them help troubleshoot the issue.

    can the HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw print one sheet at a time? If so, how does one accomplish this. The scanner feed on top seems to be just for scanning and copying. It does not seem o have the capacity of loading a single sheet of paper and print.

    You can print just a single sheet in the feed tray of the printer, but there is not a quick easy access bay to print a single sheet on this unit. The LaserJet Pro MFP 4101fdw https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-laserjet-pro-mfp-4101fdw-printer for tray 1 is a multifunction input tray that would be easier to load and print a single page with.

    What are the max actual resolutions for printing and for scanning and is the max scanning resolution different depending on whether the ADF is used or a page is manually placed? Is the scanner cover removable/adjustable in order to scan pages in a book?

The HP LaserJet Pro MFP 3101fdw printer has a maximum printing resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi for both fine lines and best quality prints, while the normal print resolution is up to 600 x 600 dpi. For scanning, the hardware resolution is up to 300 x 300 dpi (color and mono) when using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), and up to 1200 x 1200 dpi (color and mono) when using the flatbed. The optical resolution is up to 300 dpi (color and mono) with the ADF, and up to 1200 dpi (color and mono) with the flatbed. Additionally, the scanner cover is not removable or adjustable for scanning pages in a book.

    This one has 1 tray and cannot auto-duplex scan, so you would have to flip the pages. The LaserJet Pro 4101fdw is the step up from this one and has both two trays and the ability to auto-duplex scan using the ADF.
