Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reverb G2 Setup is super easy. Check out YouTube in order to get the max out of settings. OpenXR made a big difference in performance. Sits well and seems fairly light. Overall a very good product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn't have picked a better headset to jump into VR for the first time Great for a first headset, and makes a lot of sense (& cents!) The USB port lottery is real though, and it's surprising to see so much thought & detail go into this hardware but have such a fundamentally challenging issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for simulator games that support vr Good resolution for sharp images. Controllers track well enough in most games. Good sound. Comfortable enough to use for several hours.

How much better is this vr headset better then my Oculus quest2 How hard is it to set up and run?

Asked by: Zombiekiller196
So basically it depends on what you want. The q 2 has better tracking even with the new update. The update has fixed some tracking issues is what hp says and the connection issues shouldnt be as bad with the updated cable. I've heard they kind of disapeared. The G2 does have a much better resolution and thats the main selling point. These are some of the differences, but go watch a yt vid on them.

With a 3060 Ti graphics card, would performance be in the "full resolution" category?

Asked by: jks17
HP Team Grant must be just in a typing frenzy not reading questions. Yes you can run this on 3060ti with full and its way over the minimum spec needed for full.

I received my headset. You know if you look at a monitor through a camera or a phone, i.e. you view a screen on another screen, you can see the waves of the screen refreshing... Well I see that constantly in VR. Why? Is this normal?

Asked by: Danchi80
This is common with most screens when looking through a camera you can look at most screens through your camera it will either have the refresh lines or what looks like a screen door effect. Also make sure the refresh rate is at the maximum of 90hz this can also help. On my 144hz monitors I get the screen effect on camera. At lower refresh rates I see the flicker and line streaming effect. You should not see this in VR or looking directly at the screen unless the headset is defective and is not doing the proper refresh rates. Hope this helps some.

I got my HP reverb G2 1 month ago and it was working perfect, I swapped out my gpu recently and my vr worked the first time. I tried it again a few days after but it was flickering like crazy and it was super dim. It's unusable and I need suggestions.

Asked by: Chris39
I had this happen to me as well when I bought a 6900xt on sale. Apparently it is the newest driver causing the issues. The flickering went away when I went back to an older driver. I don't remember the driver number off hand I sent that video card back, I wasn't happy with the performance for the cost and went with Nvidia this time 3080. Haven't had any problems with it or even AMD when I rolled back to older driver.

Ship by 07/08 ? Does that mean my headset will arrive in July no matter what?

Asked by: Johnneh
No, mine just arrived yesterday, was expected from July 13 - July 20. The only downside is that I learned that it's still incompatible with my GPU which is a RTX3090ti, even when it says it is compatible with RTX3000 series....

Are you saying that this headset will not work with NVIDIA GeForce RTX3060 12GB GDDRS? I didn't see it listed in your last response.

Asked by: flyer j
Tested on the Asus Aorus RTX 3060 with AMD Ryzen 5 5600x B450 chipset and 32gb 3200MHz - full resolution on all times with no significant framerate drop on intense situations.

Full resolution is 2160x2160 What's the actual half resolution?

Asked by: Jveiras
TLDR: [100% Render Resolution of 3164x3100 Per Eye = Display Resolution of 2160x2160 Per Eye 50% Render Resolution is 2236x2192 Per Eye = Display Resolution of ~1527x1527 Per Eye (What you asked for is 50% Display Resolution) Keep in mind your system will render more pixels than the amount projected onto the display, so when considering performance you should look at the Render Resolution and if you're considering the clarity of what you will view, you should look at Display Resolution.] Due to distortions in the lenses, your system will render applications at a higher resolution than the display resolution and then distort it on the displays, so that the lenses 'redistort' the view of the displays to make it look normal. Think of it as taking a picture with a fisheye lens and then correcting the fisheye effect. For clarity: 'Render Resolution' = the amount of pixels your system processes 'Display Resolution' = the amount of pixels the display projects Looking at my SteamVR settings these are the results I got: 100% Render Resolution = 3164x3100 Per Eye 50% Render Resolution = 2236x2192 Per Eye 100% Render Resolution of 3164x3100 Per Eye = Display Resolution of 2160x2160 Per Eye 50% Render Resolution is 2236x2192 Per Eye = Display Resolution of ~1527x1527 Per Eye Keep in mind your system will render more pixels than the amount projected onto the display, so when considering performance you should look at the Render Resolution and if you're considering the clarity of what you will view, you should look at Display Resolution.

is there any tracking comparison videos between the old and the new version of this headset, because this looks like its going to be an upgrade to my rift s if its better.

Asked by: Toca
I do not know if there is or not, but I can confirm that the new revision is awful with tracking and can hardly properly register a controller sitting still right in front of it when initially trying to start anything. To quote a fellow reviewer: “I am going to go back to my ancient Rift CV1 as that is a wholly better experience than this e-waste.” It was the same story with my but with the Quest 2.
