After spending 2 hours with HP tech support they couldn't get it to print either. Most of the time it works beautifully, but sometimes it just gives you an error message and won't print. But the problem only with PDF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PhillipT from Great wifi recovery I have a very skeptical about wifi recovery feature from HP. Most printers cannot wake up after a long deep sleep. I tested many times with this feature and it works without a hitch. The output is very sharp and clean, shading is great. I had some confused at the wifi setup because the menu is very limited option, required to download setup software. That's the only thing I don't like.

My company is looking to switch maybe to this printer. I was reading the spec sizes for the 3-tray option what are the actual Hight width and depth of the unit. According to the website the 3-tray option doubles its depth and only gains 1 inch high

That number does not include the height of the paper tray. The height of the optional paper tray is 5.1 inches and can be found at this link: https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-laserjet-pro-550-sheet-feeder-tray The maximum height listed in the dimensions here includes trays open on this printer and does not include option paper trays.

Does the HP 4001n printer work with a Linux operating system in my computer?

That model does have Linux support. You have to download the HPLIP https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/ to use it. If you are curious about other models as well, this link https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/index shows all of the models that support Linux.

HP Laserjet 4001dne "Printer Requirements", Only works with Original HP Toner, HP Account, and Internet connection. These restrictions caused the 4001dne to be discontinued. What "Printer Requirements" does the 4001dn have? They're not shown that I see.

Is this a straight thru paper path printer?

Thank you for your question, Shirley! It is unclear what is being asked. However, this printer has a paper tray on the bottom of the printer with the paper coming out on top after printing. This will not take the paper from the back of the printer to the front of the printer as there is no paper tray in the back. The paper will flip over in the process of printing. I have configured tray 1 to legal sized paper and tray 2 to letter sized paper, but the printer still won't automatically detect the paper size I am trying to print and switch between trays. Any idea how to fix? Printing from a Mac.
