If you’ve seen the new Intel® Evo™ brand sticker on laptops, you may be wondering what it means for you. The short answer? The Intel Evo badge signifies a new, exciting platform enabling a whole new class of laptops that are verified to deliver the experiences people need for today’s modern life.
Most of us have used Intel processors for as long as we can remember. But brace yourself, because the new Intel Evo platform-verified laptops will deliver shockingly-fast speed and responsiveness for Zoom calls, Google Drive, MS Teams™, OneDrive™, and all types of cloud work thanks to 11th Generation Intel Core processors (codenamed Tiger Lake processors) and eye-popping Intel Iris® Xe graphics.
In this article we’ll take a look at why the Intel Evo platform will change your computing life forever.

What is the Intel Evo platform?

The Intel Evo platform was made possible by Intel’s Project Athena, which is its bid to go beyond supplying ever-more-powerful components to, instead, change things up materially, delivering a user experience that blows the doors off what we’re used to.
Intel EVO
The new Intel Evo platform brand is for laptop designs based on 11th Generation Intel Core processors with Iris Xe graphics. To earn the Intel Evo sticker, a laptop must be verified under key experience indicators of Project Athena using an intensified testing methodology.
By measuring workflows under real-world conditions, Full High Definition (FHD) laptops that merit the Intel Evo badge must:
  • Be consistently responsive on battery power
  • Wake from sleep in less than 1 second
  • Reach 9 or more hours of real-world battery life
  • Fast-charge to a 4-hour charge in under 30 minutes
Intel Evo platforms also feature best-in-class wired and wireless connectivity with Thunderbolt connectivity, WiFi 6 connectivity, and ground-up upgrades that create a new benchmark for computing.
Intel evaluated how we use our laptops, and designed a specification and rigorous testing program to ensure verified experiences. And for HP laptops with the Intel Evo badge, it’s all based on the new 11th Generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics combined with a candy store of other innovations that add up to real-world performance that matters.

What is an Intel Evo notebook?

Most of us are used to working on laptops, but an Intel Evo-based machine is a leap ahead. Its minimum specs start with 11th Generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, with up to 24% higher CPU performance over 10th Generation Intel predecessors. But Intel Evo notebooks don’t stop there; they revamp graphics, displays, and memory for a groundbreaking experience.
Intel Evo based notebooks deliver up to 2.7x faster photo editing and 2x the video editing, and even 2x the frame rates for gaming with speed with razor-sharp Iris Xe and Iris Plus graphics, minimum 12 to 15 inch Full High Definition (FHD) displays, 15 mm or thinner chassis, and at least 8GB of memory, with a wide range of SSD storage options.

How fast are HP’s Intel Evo platform notebooks?

HP Evo notebooks, based on the Intel Evo platform, change the playing field in terms of speed. The Core processor’s base clock speed, without even using Turbo Boost, will more than double compared with its 10th Generation ancestors.
That means you’ll do everything faster. Look for 2x the gaming performance in titles like Borderlands 3 and Hitman 2, thanks to the CPU clock speed and improved Iris Xe graphics, blazingly-fast video and photo work, and up to 24% faster real-world productivity. You’ll also go from sleep to full-speed in an eyeblink with instant wake.
But less important than a list of specs is what you’ll notice. It’s the, “Hey, I’m doing everything 10 times faster now!” experience that makes the difference.

What kind of processors will Intel Evo laptops pack?

The 11th Generation Core i5 and Core i7 processors in Intel Evo laptops bring Intel’s 10 nm SuperFin process technology dream into reality. Innovative manufacturing techniques and Super MIM (metal-insulator-metal) capacitors let more current flow for better performance to put battery life on overdrive. The upshot is an extra hour or more of cordless streaming beyond what you’re used to.
The new CPUs leverage an all-new Willow Cove architecture which enables faster AI and machine learning. If that sounds like Greek, it simply means that it frees up the processor to work on first things first, making your laptop feel faster than it has a right to be.
The 11th Generation Intel Core processors at the heart of the Intel Evo platform are small, thin, light, and powerful, enabling smaller, lighter laptops equipped for real-world productivity.

How will Intel Evo notebooks change your life?

What do you use your laptop for? The Intel Evo platform is based on deep research by Intel to see how people actually use their PCs. The results show that we want more responsiveness and longer battery life in versatile devices that are ready to go when we are.
The Intel Evo platform translates those needs into technical requirements. Testing and verification makes sure you can rely on speedy local and cloud computing to fully enjoy media-rich sites and platforms like YouTube, Zoom, Twitter, OneDrive, and Slack.
Today, we do more on-the-go than ever, which means we open our laptops more and hop from window to window in browsers and multiple apps. Intel Evo-based laptops are designed to do all of these things faster, including waking your laptop in less than a second, working with several tabs open, and loading web pages.

Every aspect, covered

Lightning-fast connectivity with WiFi 6, high definition displays, and high-fidelity speakers and microphones give video-conferencing a being-there feel. Streaming video from Netflix and Amazon Prime becomes a portable version of your full home theater setup.
At work, if you’ve got lots of apps open at once, with frequent toggling and heavy media use, you’re in good company. Intel’s research shows intensive workflows like that are now par for the course, and Intel Evo-based laptops with 11th Generation processors step up and deliver with a host of integrated upgrades.

Vastly improved workflows

Notebooks with the Evo platform will fundamentally change the way we work, making it feel smoother and allowing us to get more done. Many of us now use scheduling apps for productivity, but high-performers know it’s not the hours that count; it’s the minutes.
Intel Evo based laptops attack those minutes by opening browser tabs faster, switching between them faster, and processing small tasks faster. You may open 40 browser tabs in an average hour (think that’s unrealistic? Check your history). Just think about all the time you can potentially save when you’re not, you know, waiting for those tabs to load.

Speed, and not just faster processors

How often do you close and open your laptop? The promise of remote work is that we can snatch a few minutes here or there for projects. In cafes, on trains and planes, and in spare moments at home, we get things done. But if your workday comes in a barrage of 15-minute chunks, spending 3 minutes to wake your laptop is an efficiency killer.
The Intel Evo platform puts an end to wasted time with laptops that wake instantly. There’s no finger-drumming while you wait for the OS to show up and apps to open. Laptops with the Intel Evo platform are 40% more responsive, with a minimum of 9 hours of real-world battery life with FHD displays. They charge fast too, providing 4 hours of battery with just a 30-minute charge.

Wow-level graphics

Intel Iris Xe graphics in Intel Evo based devices are a mammoth leap forward from their predecessors. The new Xe architecture is not only faster and more powerful, it is also AI-enhanced, using deep learning to crunch the most important numbers first. The result is smooth 1080p gaming and accelerated workflows. Plus, with these new graphics, Evo-based laptops can support up to four 4K HDR displays at once.
The new Iris Xe graphics in Intel Evo laptops are like nothing you’ve ever seen, rendering complex files in stunning detail, with fast encoding and longer battery life. Intel calls it synergy between “silicon and software,” but what it means for you is breathtaking visuals in smaller, power-sipping laptops.

Blazing connectivity

Today’s workflows are mobile. Instead of offices, we’re now shackled to our download speeds. These laptops blow the doors off those with WiFi 6 (Gig+) that lets your devices do more on a single network.
The Intel Evo platform also delivers Thunderbolt 4 ports for fast file transfers. The revolutionary ports can supply power, connect multiple devices to one hub, and power multiple 4K displays. The speeds clock in at a rippingly-fast 40 GB/s and support wake from sleep and DMA protection.

Summary

This Project Evo review shows that the Intel Evo platform takes innovation beyond the chip. It’s a deep-roots redesign of what you can expect from the PC experience based on research into what people just like you want from your device. It is a combination of processors, graphics, ports, connectivity, displays, and software; optimizing how they all interact.
At their heart, Intel Evo notebooks take the waiting out of work and play, waking instantly, responding in an eyeblink with battery life you can depend on. They are the best laptops for getting things done.
