Several days of frustration attempting to understand what was wrong connecting this to my HP Fury G8 17” and two standalone monitors was very frustrating as the monitors would not display, my G8 continued to go into sleep mode despite my settings and the connected SSD’s would not show up as connected. A 1-2 hour session was required with HP Business Support, downloading several SP files and installing same to get this G4 to work properly - kudos to HP Business Support, however this G$ should have come with an installation cd that would have prompted all of this when I first connected it to the laptop. That would have saved me at least 2-3 days of frustration and loss of working hours.

Something is not working right with the communication with the docking station and the computer. All of the external items are dropping out. At this point the docking station is only good for power.

I didn't spend all this money to have to connect to the laptop. That's why I bought the docking station. So just the laptop to the docking station and done. Nothing else has been an issue. Just have been too busy to contact HP.

I have had no problems with connections, with device communication, or device recognition. My complaint or suggestion is to remove the DP ports and add more USB-A and USB-C ports. I had to add a USB hub for the rest of my connections.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Peter Bergh from Needs firmware update When I first connected it to my laptop and connected my hubs to the dock, the laptop only saw one device from each hub. I checked HP's web site and found out that the dock had been delivered with out-of-date firmware. I downloaded and installed the latest dock firmware, after which everything was hunky-dory. It's HP's job to make sure their devices are delivered with up-to-date firmware. HP failed to do that. The customer should not have to fix HP's failures. Bottom line: device fine, HP failed.

Thank you for your question! Without having the exact model number it is impossible to determine if your laptop has Thunderbolt ports or standard USB-C ports. If your laptop has Thunderbolt Ports then this Dock will be great for your laptop. However, if it doesn't have Thunderbolt Ports then the HP USB-C Dock G5 will be your recommended Dock. For assistance with which ports your specific HP laptop has open the HP Support Assistant software downloaded on your PC.

I have an OMEN 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PC 17-ck0000 (2Y4A6AV). What chipset do the NIC cards use, and will the 2.5g provide actual 2.5g download speeds, or will it fail to do so the way USB-C 2.5g NIC cards do?

The HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 will communicate at up to 2.5GB speed. This is no guarantee that the performance will be at that 2.5GB speed at all times as there are many different factors that can affect the speed. Thank you for your question! Unfortunately, there is not an HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 w/Combo Cable with a built-in speaker available at this time. Most HP EliteBook 850 G8 laptops feature a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C port that will be compatible with this dock. If there is a symbol of a lightning bolt (Thunderbolt 3) next to the USB-C port, then you can use this port to charge and transfer a video signal. This port supports Display Port alt-mode.

There are over 30 different ZBook Fury G9's that fall under that product designation. If your laptop has a Thunderbolt Port then it will need a Thunderbolt Dock. A ZBook Fury G9 usually has a Thunderbolt port and this will be the dock that is needed. If your Fury has a USB-C port it needs PowerDelivery and DisplayPort. Most USB-C ports on the Fury will have this designation and then a USB-C Dock is your best option. If your Fury has an AMD processor then it more than likely will have a USB-C port.
