Wireless Keyboard
Keyboard is great. It was purchased it primarily for the back light and programing feature. The one downside and my only complaint is the lack of set up and user instructions. As with many HP products user instructions and setup procedures are very lean and hard to find, even on their web site. Other than that, I would recommend this unit.

Defective keyboard
I purchased an HP 970 keyboard directly from HP. I had trouble getting it to work and when it did it lasted a day. I called tech support and they said there was nothing they could do about it so they were going to exchange it. Since I needed a keyboard I paid for a second one as I would get it the next day and they sent me a return label so I could mail it back and get a refund. I got the second one and that lasted 2 days before dying. I ended up going to Microcenter and getting a keyboard. I was told by someone that many times replacement items are just refurbished items.

Comes up Short
The footers on the keyboard are minimal and do not raise the slant sufficiently to be comfortable for long typing sessions. The device was purchased because it has the backlit key option. While this is satisfactory, I am having to prop the keyboard up with books to get it to a comfortable typing position.

Excellent, silent, soft, intuitive.... only area for improvement: the characters on the keys are difficult to read sometimes depending on the room light; not enough contrast between key and character colors

Battery Life Not Effective
Great keyboard. The biggest issue is less than 24 hour lasting battery. It needs to be charged every day to stay functional.

How do I pair this keyboard to my HP laptop? I tried turning on the bluetooth from my computer but the keyboard did not show up nor do I know a button on the keyboard to pair it with or turn it on. Thank you!

The backlight does not stay on. How can I change the settings to make it stay on? Sometimes it stays on. Sometimes it does not. and even when I press the backlight button, it only stays on temporarily.
To adjust the sleep setting on your backlit keyboard select Control Panel > Hardware and Sound> Windows Mobility Center. In the Windows Mobility Center, look for the Keyboard brightness (or Keyboard backlighting) setting, select its corresponding slider, and pull that slider over to the right. The sleep setting is to maximize the battery life of your keyboard. Changing this setting will greatly impact your battery life.

Is there a way to turn the backlight default to off? when activating the from sleep it turns on at a low setting. It's easy enough to turn off but would be nice to set the default to off.
