Have you ever experienced the frustration of a glitched-out game console, overheating gaming desktop, or a controller that simply stops working? Gaming can be an expensive hobby, and it can get even more costly if you’re slammed with repair and replacement bills without insurance.
HP’s gaming coverage plan, known as the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan, seeks to solve this often-expensive issue with an easy, streamlined plan to cover all your favorite gaming gear for PCs and consoles. It has been recently enhanced with even more coverage. Let’s take a look at how it works.

What is the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan?

The HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan is gaming device and accessory protection plan for anyone who loves their gear and wants to protect it, regardless of brand. For $19.99 per month or $199 per year, your entire gaming setup is covered against failure and accidental damage, whether it’s your gaming PC or console, controller, mouse, keyboard, or other gaming accessory.

Protection against failure

Don't have a warranty for your Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, or gaming rig? Get protection for your console, gaming PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, headset, VR headsets, and controllers from any brand including HP, Sony PlayStation, Microsoft Xbox, Lenovo, ASUS, Nintendo (Wii and Switch), Razer, Alienware, HyperX, Turtle Beach, Oculus, and more.

No hidden fees or deductibles

The coverage plan pays up to $2,000 per claim up to $5,000 in total claims per year. Unlike traditional gaming console or gaming PC coverage, there is no deductible or hidden fees for repair or replacement. We take care of all of those annoying incidents, from frozen monitor screens to broken controller joysticks, without additional costs to you.

Accidental damage coverage included

What about accidents or damage you cause? The plan includes accidental damage coverage for drops, spills, or other incidents. Whether you broke a headset or someone in your home did, the plan will get you gaming again with no questions asked.

Overclock or upgrade with confidence

We know gamers frequently push their tech to its limits and tweak and upgrade their gaming setup. With that in mind, the plan now includes protection for overclocking and component upgrades. Essentially any and all gaming technology failures are included.

How to get repairs for your game console, gaming PC, or accessories

So, what happens if something that’s covered under the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan breaks? While it may be frustrating to take a time-out from your play, we make it easy to get back into the game.

1. Submit a Claim

You can easily submit a claim request through our easy online interface. It’s user-friendly and won’t require you to submit a bunch of documents to open a case. To manage your subscription or file a claim, go to hp.com/gameon and click “Support.”

2. Repairs or reimbursement of your PC or console

If you need a repair or replacement, our team will walk you through what to do next. Our rep will instruct you on how to pack your gaming device or accessory to ship for repair. If you need packing materials, we’ll provide them for you. You’ll know where your gear is every step of the repair process with your unique tracking number. This will help you plan your return to gaming, as well as give you peace of mind that your gaming PC, console, or accessory is being carefully looked after.
If your claim is deemed to be unrepairable, we may elect to immediately reimburse you the remaining value of your gaming device so you can quickly purchase a replacement and get back in the game.

Coverage beyond your game console or PC warranty

Playstation 4 game console and controllers
Controllers can cost anywhere from $45 to $80, and some gaming consoles run $500 or more. The typical game console warranty doesn’t cover most failures, and who can afford to replace items as they fail?
With the low monthly or yearly cost of the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan, you can budget for your service plan amount without paying extra out of pocket to repair or replace your covered gaming devices and accessories.
While that’s a big benefit – and the main reason to sign up – there are other perks to insuring your gaming PC or game console and accessories. If you’ve ever worried about keeping your gear safe or you know your aggressive overclocking or play can lead to broken keyboards or slow performance, you’ll want to check out the benefits.

Brands don’t matter

HP is happy to help you repair or replace your HP gaming laptop or desktop, but we don’t stick to servicing our own brands. Whether you’re a PC gamer or play on a game console:
  • Sony PlayStation
  • Nintendo
  • Microsoft Xbox
  • Oculus VR
  • Valve Index
You’ll have support for the life of your subscription. HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan is brand agnostic; we cover your gear no matter the brand.
You can get coverage for gear on any brand, and if you buy something new during the coverage period, it automatically covers that item, too:
  • Logitech
  • Philips
  • PlayStation
  • HyperX
  • Turtle Beach
  • Alienware
  • Razer
  • Acer
  • Dell
  • Lenovo
  • Samsung
  • And more
Feel free to shop for the brands you love the most. If you later decide to go from game console to PC, you can do that, too. This protection plan fully supports cross-platform gaming.

No surprise fees

Did you know that most game console insurance and coverage plans have a deductible? This can be anywhere from $25 to $250 (or more!), and it requires you to pay cash upfront before the first repair or replacement occurs.
Other repair plans charge you shipping fees to send your gear for repair or to send it back to you. If you need your items fixed fast, some will even charge extra for “rush service.”

No deductible, no shipping charges, no rush service fees

You don’t have to worry about any of that with the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan. Our coverage plan has no deductible or hidden fees. Forget about paying for processing, restocking, or other costs that the other service plans can tack on. Surprise bills are a thing of the past.

Flexible monthly plan or save with yearly option

Other coverage plans can ask for the full amount of the coverage upfront usually for 1 year. This HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan lets you pay monthly or yearly, making it much easier to budget for each month. Now you can cover your game console or PC for 30 days at a time rather than having to pay for years of coverage you may not use.
You can also cancel at any time. With no contracts, you have protection for your most-loved gaming gear without the need to come up with a lot of cash in the beginning. Add as many devices as you want at any time. Your protection plan covers you up to the $5,000 limit of devices that you claim. You can rest easy knowing that your old and new gaming PC, console, or accessory is covered.

Insured for accidental damage

Accidental damage to your gaming PC or console is included and can pay for itself in just one repair of a cracked screen or a busted controller. A controller or gaming headset can cost well over $75 to replace, so it’s easy to see how this can stretch your gaming budget in ways you may not have considered before.

Covers more than an extended console warranty

How strong is your Xbox warranty? Or your PlayStation warranty?
Have you ever read the terms and conditions of your game console's warranty? Did you know that it doesn’t cover most problems unless they are a result of what they call “defects in material?” This means that unless your issue comes from a mistake in the manufacturing process, you are unlikely to get help with a repair or replacement.
The game console or accessory warranty period is often very short, too. Some consoles or accessories only have a 90-day warranty period. This may start from the date of purchase, so if you buy a device but don’t use it until months later, the warranty period may have run out before you even get a chance to play.
The last thing you want as a gamer is to find yourself reading through your Nintendo Switch warranty to see if you’re properly covered.

Game console and gaming PC coverage that works for you

There are many game console and gaming PC extended warranty plans out there, but their limitations can be costly and some options only cover items made by one brand. If you were to specifically buy game console insurance, for example, it won’t cover your PC's gaming gear or that controller you love.
Other plans let you cover more than one item, but they require you to register every new piece of gear you buy and submit receipts and proof of purchase every time. Others limit claims to just a few hundred dollars or limit you to only one claim per period. And sometimes, your game console warranty will have already expired.
The HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan is flexible and made for serious gamers who love their gear. Since life has plenty of unexpected events, it’s time to consider a plan that can go along with whatever you encounter and get you gaming again with less stress.
With a monthly price that’s less than even the cost of a typical DLC (Downloadable Content) pack, it’s easy to justify adding the HP Ultimate Gaming Coverage Plan to your gaming lifestyle and budget. Unlike other gaming PC or game console options, you can use it for any brand, and it will pay for itself over time if you change your mind and decide to do more cross-platform play. It’s time to sign-up and say goodbye to game over.
