Hook up problems. from
The printer works very well now that it's hooked up.
This is a good printer. The only problem I had was getting it hooked up. had to contact HP support to get it hooked up and it still took a log time.

printer use
so far the only thing I have used my printer for is to print files and it is working marvelously. However it would be nice to know what the symbols stand for that light. up when I use the printer.

HP all in one printers
HP has always had good products and support. I recently replaced a HP printer that I had for several years. Upgrade. Never had any problems with it and don’t expect any WTH the new one.

Like it except can never find the power button which is in the back
Good little device; small and lightweight; perfect for my modest printing etc needs, EXCEPT that the power button is in the back and really hard to find by feeling for it even though I know where it is. I have no idea how anyone could think that putting the needed power button in the back of a device is a good idea. And in case I ever need to send a fax, as some places still require, I'm glad it has the mobile fax option.

Didn't Work Out
The printer didn't print consistently, and was slow to copy and scan. Many of the print jobs would stop and I would have to press the resume icon to continue printing. I returned the printer.

Pros and cons of this printer.
The ink ran out very quickly. The part that holds the ejected copies is very flimsy and can break easily. I like that the printer itself is lightweight.

Doesn't work properly
Doesn't print consistently. Paper rolls in then for the print job, but then the device doesn't print and then have to remove the sheet of paper. When the printer will print it stops at the start of the job and then I have presume resume for the job to finish. I chatted with support but didn't get a resolution, so I'm returning it.

How to print from your printer.....
Now that the printer is set up and working, I like it. But it took me a week to figure it out, and a computer expert coming over to see what was wrong. I could print from the printer, but not from the computer. I worked on it every day for a week, and I was super frustrated. Finally, a friend who taught computer class at the college level came over. When I pressed print, only PDF would come up. He showed me that all I had to do is click on the window with PDF, and Print would drop down. Now it works. It was that simple, but nowhere in the instructions do you address that. I was ready to send it back, and it was a simple fix.

Replaced old 7855 with new 6455e
The 6455 all in one is a very nice printer and scanner. I purchased it when my older 7855 became noisy and wouldn't feed photo paper. This printer does a nice job on color photos. It is a little slower than the 7855, and doesn't have the FAX capability of the 7855, but it is quieter, and I rarely used the FAX function. I was getting concerned that the 7855 was going to quit. I now have both printers up and running with Instant on both of them, which I really like.

A Great Surprise This Printer Turned Out To Be
I had an HP printer/scanner/fax/copier since 2016. Loved it and when it finally stopped working I had to replace it I was upset. Then shopping online for a new one I found one that did all that the old one did and was made from recycled plastic. WOW! That was attention grabbing as we should all care about recycling. I looked it over then called into HP to talk to someone. The young man that I talked with was GREAT. He did not pressure me to buy one more costly and gave me the same information on paying a monthly fee for the ink and some paper when needed. I had done this before and it is a very good way to care for your printer, save money and not worry about being out of ink. The printer arrived and it was such a nice surprise. It was smaller, weighed less, took up less space and worked just as well as the one I paid more for in 2016. I recommend it to family and friends constantly.

8 1\2 x 14 size pages
Did not realize it was not going to be able to print 8 1\2 x 14 size pages. Every other old printer of mine has done this. I thought it was just a natural thing to come with a printer.

A few bummers
Pretty okay printer, can't complain about the price because it was on sale. But the power button is on the _back_ of the printer - who does that? Something I would never even think of researching. I have mobility issues, so now I have to rig something to power on/off the printer (no auto shutoff) or get someone to help me. One other annoyance is that I have to change out the paper when printing pictures or envelopes. I previously had a HP7520 where there was a separate photo paper tray and I could slip envelopes in for a one-off envelope. Maybe I'll be able to do the same here with envelopes, but will have to experiment.

The quality of printing is bad.
The quality of the printing on this machine is so inferior to my office pro (which has had a good life, but now won’t work). I spent time on the phone taking pictures of printed pages and their way to resolve it was to send a new black cartridge. It didn’t change a thing. I have cleaned the print heads, I have aligned, all multiple times but it doesn’t help. I am getting a new one, which I do appreciate but I am not confident that it will give me the quality of printing I was use to with the office pro model. It was not significantly more expensive to buy the office pro series, and I am sorry I didn’t. Also, the darn thing has a light on ALL THE TIME. Coming out of the belly of the beast. You cannot turn it off, but only dim it. The controls are mysterious and require a manual to interpret. And when I turned off the instant ink on the old printer to transfer to the new, it makes the old printer unusable! It wouldn’t even let me run it til it was completely empty. So I as of now do not recommend this printer if you are used to the blacks being really black and the colors vibrant.

My opinions of my HP Envy 6455e All In One printer.
My personal opinion about this printer.
Pros:
Has a document feed when making copies.
Print copies comes out fast.
Printing can be done using devices connected by WiFi.
Cons:
Setup required WiFi (according to tech support)
I don't know why but it took nearly 1 hour (with the support help) to setup the printer
Light above where the printed document comes out stays on even while the printer is in "sleep: mode. The printer must be shut down for the light to go out.
Must have the HP Smart app to check ink levels.
Ink cartridge is hard to install.
Printer size is big.
Overall, the printer does what is supposed to do.

Pleased with the 6455e Printer
Very good printer. Seems to work well for daily tasks. Haven’t tried the legal size paper yet. Had a little trouble with setting up and the cartridges getting stuck, but customer support walked me through it and it worked fine then. This is my second hp printer with instant ink and it’s very convenient and saves time and money. I’ve recommended it to several people. I’m pleased with this new model of printer and having the digital read for it on the side vs in the middle like my previous model. The option to have a top feed for a copy is nice too. So far the quality seems pretty decent.

New and improved but flaws
Very happy to obtain an upgrade for the printer I currently use. I am excited in having this as scanning without a feed was time consuming. I am pleased with new features.
On the downside installation was troubling. Over 2 days to successfully connect without instruction manual included in box. It required a series of back and forth between videos that i found less then helpful. It was not connected to system then offline. Then off and on ad nauseum.
I finally called help number and was left with a new account from previous on HP Account. I lost 3750 pages of rollover prints. Also.lost one of the 3 free months as old was already w/in billing cycle.
I chose to retain instant ink as it makes my life easier with respect. I do not have to go to store to buy.
Product is great, but its connection that is flawed. Also punitive to pay in free month. It is unfortunate i was unable to keep what i paid for. Additionallly, requests for ink back when i have new prinnter with same is nonsensical.

Sceptical Customer
The offer of free ink for a few months was a big reason I bought this printer. But as far as I can tell HP simply transferred my the Instant Ink subscription from my old printer to this one. Am I going to get my promised free ink or not >
