Powehouse that sits perfectly behind the monitor!
It's been about a month that I've had this HP workstation and it's working perfectly!

Z2 for AI work
This z2 came with Windows Pro 11, which I'm familiar with, and more comfortable setting up to run as a remote workstation/server, which I can access using my laptop 24/7 from anywhere. Although I considered the Nvidia Spark or equivalent, I landed on the windows version that can be configured to run local LLMs in a Linux environment. Although I use online and desktop AI tools, my intention is to build a strong local stack, and this unit has the capacity to run larger parameter models. I've been running for a few weeks as a remote server and it's been working great. I'm happy with my purchase so far and intend to expand with LLMs soon.

Crashes if run at high load
If you run at high CPU load (with the turbo boost engaged) for more than a short period of time, it gets very hot, and crashes within a couple of hours (not clear if it's crashing due to temps, or simply high utilization).
Throttling the CPU back to <= 99% avoids crashing, but processor is much slower without the turbo boost active.
Shouldn't be happening with a brand new machine. Very disappointed.

poor customer service
Z2 Mini arrived on 1/5/26 in packaging that was heavily damaged and it was evident the interior packaging was not sufficient allowing the computer to bounce around inside during delivery. Filed a claim immediately and 3 weeks later HP has yet to resolve the claim beyond sending out form emails with incorrect information or these surveys.
