Rated 5 out of 5 by Cathy in Sacramento from Happy with it It’s a monster! It does everything I need it to do, from gaming to development. The only thing is that I haven’t found a docking station powerful enough to sustain it while it’s on. I use both a docking station for peripherals and the power cord.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Litespeed1000 from System 90 Fan Failure out of the box 45 minutes after unboxing and doing the required updates System 90 Fan Failure appeared after update reboot. HP indicated in the failure not to proceed and boot up. If you don’t hit enter button laptop will then shutoff. Called tech support multiple times, had me update BIOS a couple times with no success. How does HP Quality Control or hardware design let this out ? A quick google search many people have the same issue, some seem to be lucky and not. So what is the cause? Hardware, S/W, firmware? Why don’t you just fix it so no one has to deal with this? I’m out going on one month with no replacement. If this replacement fails I will ask for a full refund.. Come on HP get it together!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SFMillburn from Very satisfied with this laptop Laptop is fast and responsive. Keyboard easy and pleasant to type on. Pen works well and ability to recharge is a plus. Screen bright and clear. WiFi has been fast and stable. Sound clear and loud enough. Have not had any hardware related crashes. I have had a few problems, though they shouldn't dissuade from purchase. First, all needed video drivers to not come installed. Photoshop refused to run with GPU and Epic games wouldn't load at all. There is a utility that comes installed that confirmed the missing drivers and installed some. That made Photoshop happy, though it pointed out the drivers were old. Epic still didn't run. Going to the Intel site allowed download of current drivers and installed a utility which keeps them up to date. Now, Photoshop and Epic Games are happy. The microSD slot is handy (though a full SD would have been better). However, it is misaligned so that the second time I used it, the card went above the slot and disappeared into the body of the computer. Not so happy about that. Disassembly seems to be a long process so I just hope it doesn't cause trouble. A minor nit is that there is a utility that allows you to pick a color space appropriate for what you do. However, it is incompatible with setting the screen to HDR mode. These problems are all addressable and shouldn't dissuade purchasing this laptop which I am very happy with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BigBzy from Continually great laptop form facter This is my second Spectre, the first being about 8 years old and still kicking. That's really why I got a new one, because the previous has served me so well. I had to replace the screen because it took a fall off a couch 4 feet to the floor. That shattered the screen but otherwise it was fine. Had to replace the battery after 4-5 years. Had to put in a new SSD because the original was so small. But with that, the core functionality remains high. This new Spectre is a little leaner, same screen size in a slightly smaller case. Large enough SSD. Fast processor. The ports are fine for most things with the move to primarily USBC style but there is still an A and all are fast. My one gripe there is moving from the SD card reader to a useless micro SD. I don't have any devices that I would take the micro SD out and put in a reader. All of my cameras use SD. So I had to but a USBC card reader. My other complaints are not directed at the PC at all. WIndows 11 is pretty annoying. Stop trying to sync and save everything to a Microsoft one drive. Stop trying to sign me in with my work profile. STOP trying to get me to log in to XBOX. Stop trying to get me to use Edge. Stop trying to feed my info I didn't ask for. But the laptop is generally great and a great value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by gmk000 from Powerful laptop for a fantastic price This laptop literally has EVERYTHING. Huge SSD. Dedicated GPU. 4K OLED screen. Latest 13th generation processor. Everything I throw at it just works. Games, photo and video editing, surfing, productivity apps. And it was discounted for the holidays at a terrific price. Love it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Jasmine Jay from Good laptop, but with a terrible GPU I really like this laptop, and although I'm not the biggest fan of the fingerprint scanner replacing the right control button, it's manageable. What's not manageable is the poor graphics card. I can't play most of the games I used to play on my older laptop. I'm aware this is not a gaming laptop, but neither was my old one! This is extremely disappointing, and I'm not sure if this is something that can be overlooked

Rated 5 out of 5 by MD_student from Phenomenal laptop This is my second Spectre, and I am very happy with the computer. My first one I bought in 2016 and it worked great through college, a work from home job, and the first part of a graduate degree. I bought the same model when I needed a new one now because I knew this was going to be a great computer. The audio/speakers are great, the webcam glam feature is a morning meeting life saver, the browsing speed is incredible, and all around this is a nice laptop. One charge gets me through the entire day (~8 hours) with constant use. It powers a dual monitor display with seemingly no change in speed. I would recommend this to anybody looking for an HP laptop!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Anonymous from Near Perfect I love HP Spectre Laptops for its design and build quality, unfortunately they are missing below listed key features which are expected in premium laptops 1. DDR 5 RAM 2. TYPE - C Charger 3. Annoying USB-A Port which has cover that needs attention every time we use it 4. Graphics Card only available for Intel Core P series Processor Laptops, they should give it for Intel H series Processor Laptops as well. If HP does not fix these issues in upcoming year models

Rated 1 out of 5 by PhilipM from Laptop died 2 hours after opening box. The laptop stopped working less than after 2 hours after it arrived with an unrecoverable bios/cmos hardware fault. Spent 2-3 hours with support after which time agreed the laptop was faulty and I needed to return it. Incredible that HP can send their top line laptop without a simple QA procedure to ensure it works. Lets just say I won't be purchasing HP products again...

Rated 1 out of 5 by Geo NH from Need help! PC didn't start correctly. The new laptop has been a disaster so far. I followed the LapLink "PCmover" directions. It told me the transfer has successfully completed. When I started the new PC, it crashed, showing a Black screen with no blinking cursor. Tried again and saw, "Automatic Repair", your PC did not start correctly. Then it showed a few "Advanced Options". I tried to use them, too technical. I tried to contact support, but they said my PC didn't have a correct product number. I've been trying to understand for over a week. There was no help for this critical failure. I successfully setup my two previous HP PCs using LapLink without problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SpectreUser - LMA from New Spectre is nice .... but not as well laid out as previous model. I hate that the start button was moved from the bottom left corner (which they now have a port there) to a key on the right ... and they eliminated the numeric keypad (opting for an app to use it instead. I also hate that a normal mouse with USB plug can no longer be used with this laptop. Could also use more ports in the laptop to avoid having to buy a hub. Also, the fingerprint pad being moved to the keypad is not convenient either. The keys on this new model seem "cheap," as they are lacking a smoothness to the touch that the previous model has. The Spectre laptop layout of 4 years ago was much better/convenient. It would be better if, when you touch the screen to open an app, you didn't also have to tap on the word "Open." I like that the new Spectre has face recognition and I'm glad the laptop's elegant shell (black with the gold trim) was kept. Would also appreciate a feature that would give me the option to eliminate being forced to see all of the ads and having to manually close them every single time I get on my laptop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mark S., West Reading, PA from A Good Choice Impressive hardware performance all around. The video is sharp, clear, and responsive; the audio has plenty of power and range. Most of my nitpicking would be along the lines of software and ergonomics, and both of those issues are a matter of getting used to a new machine and making settings tweaks, although going from Windows 10 to 11, along with trying to tame the insistent permission requests and find where they hid settings that used to be relatively instantly accessible, has proven a bit of a challenge. Of the machine itself, though, it's very much what I expected from the descriptions, and I'm very pleased with this choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stephan B from Best 2-in-1 on the Market No words can describe how amazing it is to use this laptop. Its sleek matte finish alone is something that will always catch your eyes. And can we talk about those chipped corners at the top? Its one of those innovative ideas thats *gasp* worthy. Okay, specs and whatnot. I was a bit on edge on going from 10th gen i5 to 13th gen i7 (would've preferred i9 if it were compatible on a 2-in-One...literally anywhere). As a gamer, there most definitely IS a difference. Does Overwatch 2 still crash after a while? Sure, this isn't a gaming laptop, but it gets the job done! (PS, for a game like that, I'm seeing around 50 FPS with performance settings on max and graphics low, but still looks pretty to me!). Some sidenotes for future versions, please buff the refresh rate (60Hz is such a yesterday topic). I would have also preferred symmetric USB-C slots on the chipped edge (boo for whoever thought a headphone jack + USB C pair was a good idea). The sound is great but nothing to blow you away. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants versatility. Its not perfect, but its *getting there.*

Rated 5 out of 5 by crs10 from Great Laptop but better warranty coverage is needed. Great 16" laptop from Spectre series of products. This is my third Spectre purchase and all have preformed well with no issues. My 1 only issue was an HP software one regarding a non-performing app that was not covered under their warranty. Had to pay 'Smart Friend' to fix it. I'm almost certain an update broke it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Valerie C. from My second HP Spectre I've only had this laptop for a few days, so I'm not able to provide a complete review. I will say that I've owned another Spectre for 7 years and still love it. I only purchased this new one after the battery I purchased from Amazon to replace the original one overheated and caused the components to buckle and several keys no longer registered. I bought this at a great sale price no knowing if the other one would survive a repair. The old one also didn't accommodate Windows 11, so I'd likely have to replace it in a few years anyway. Specifically, I love the graphics, speed, storage space, soft touch keyboard and sleek design. I chose the 16" display again as I prefer a bigger screen over having a small, lighter laptop. The only thing I'd like more is having a dedicated numeric keypad. The Spectre is on the high end of HP laptops but worth it to me for the functionality I need. For the last 15+ years, I've had HP computers and printers exclusively and have been very happy with them. No major issues (except a failed printer head in one of my printers that was irreparable and had to be replaced). I will remain an HP customer as long as they continue to produce quality devices.

Rated 2 out of 5 by KLJT from side number keypad This laptop has a lot of great features and is a great replacement for my HP pavilion 2 in 1 360 that I had for many years. The one thing I dislike the most about this laptop is that the numbers are only on the top and there is not right-side number keypad to use. It is extremely inconvenient, and I would not have purchased it had a paid attention and realized it had no side number pad. Other than that, it is a great computer. Some of the new features are a little confusing, but I will adjust.

Will there be a version of this laptop with a numeric pad in the near future? I really want to buy this computer but that is the only thing stopping me.

Asked by: Dex1
This forum does not have information on future products and what they may contain. However, as consumer demands for laptops continue to lean towards lightweight and smaller, built-in numeric pads are not likely to be included. An external USB numeric pad is recommended.
