Rated 5 out of 5 by Ames06 from Finally no ink cartridges I’ve always found ink cartridges to be confusing with all the different models, sizes and compatibilities. I love that this printer does not take cartridges. It was super easy to set up and filling the ink reservoir was straightforward. I am so happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Justbfree from Quality printing This printer is awesome. It’s not my first HP so when I downloaded the app it automatically found my previous account and added this printer to it. I do admit having some confusion while setting it up but the instructions that came with it along with the app walking me through it I was printing the same day. I was initially concerned that it would be difficult to filling the ink into the cartridges but my fears were unfounded. It’s literally just open the bottle, place it in the corresponding color compartment and over the pin until you hear a faint click. It then fills itself ! The color bottles are used completely and the black is about 1/2 of the bottle ( because most people usually use much more black than colors. The print heads were clearly explained and easy to attach. I printed several items the day I received my printer and scanned one document so I could give someone a copy of a needed document. The ink should last about two years and the refill bottles are very fairly priced. I feel you can’t go wrong getting this printer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JPnTN from Value for a reasonable price A good value for the money, quality printing that looks more affordable that cartridge printers. Double-siding takes manual reloading of paper, and the scanner feature works well, but finding how to access it can take a while the first few times.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Anonymous from Help is Needed I like the concept of filling up the tanks. As far as the software goes, it was difficult to find all the components to make it work. the paper feed is another situation. You can only feed 1 sheet at a time or it jams. I have been tring to contact customer support to help me with this problem with no avail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by elminick from Game changer. HP Smart Tank 5100 All-in-1 Printer I have just received and unboxed the printer. Refillable ink tanks are the future of home printing. With the ability to print over 3000 Pages this is perfect. I also like the versatility of being able to replace the printer heads. The printer comes with all you need to start. The wifi connectivity is a must as we share the printer my wife, daughters and I. The speed and print quality are quite good, as expected from HP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from HP 5101 Printer Review The 5101 HP Printer was easy to operate. I ordered from HP and it came in a box that was packaged very well to prevent any damage. Easy to install ink and get on line and easy to operate. The app is full of information about the product and what it can do. Great for my home use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Plain old me from Disappointed Somewhat disappointing since this printer is a replacement for a laser jet - This printer cannot print double side, it won't support an HP Printer software that will let my older iMac print in color and it doesn't have a document feeder. Sorry I didn't ask more questions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Daddd from Printer A dissapointment to find out that the paper loader is on the outside and other functions as double side printing is a annoyance. Apparently I picked a printer for kids. No USB cable came with the printer, and it took almost two days to get it operational.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JJ0502 from It's so easy! I was reluctant to purchase a printer that relied on liquid ink, thinking the ink would evaporate or be a mess when I tried to fill the ink canisters. In fact, it was so easy that I had to call HP and make sure that I'd done correctly. The ink vials have a notched opening that perectly fits the canisters - there's no way to spill the ink. The test sheet was perfect for color alignment, and we're very pleased with this printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KBrew from New owner of an ink dispenser printer I was hesitant to buy this after my old reliable HP laser jet no longer had cartridges made. I thought I’d spill the ink bottles, I always dread instruction manuals written by techies, and I wanted my old printer back. But this is a jewel. Super easy to set up, wireless, and the bottles are spill- proof. I love how easy it is to run and forgiving when I can’t get the paper in quick enough- it gives me time w/o a blaring blinking “you’re out of time” light going on. I highly recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Steelhead 01 from Multi tank printer Setting up the printer to operate wirelessly was a bit of a problem amd the instructions could be improved. It would help if you realized some 82 yr old men still have to set up their own equipment and simple step by step directions are a God send. The printer prints color and black and white well and my wife is happy when I print her quilt patterns for her in color. Look forward to multi years without having to buy additional ink and change out cartridges. The next test will be printing out our 2025 income tax returns

Rated 3 out of 5 by Diana Pasadena from Prints beautifully, but design deficiencies outweigh everything else I admit I didn't do good research when I chose this product; I did not know the paper would be held outside the machine, subjecting it to changes in humidity, static, etc. I also didn't realize it doesn't do automatic two-sided printing, which is a feature I need, so if you need it, too, don't buy this machine. I wanted ink tanks to keep from constantly having to change cartridges; it was very easy to introduce the inks, and the quality of printing is excellent. Other than that, all the indicators and buttons are on top of the machine, which makes it very awkward to read any error messages unless you place the printer well below eye level. That definitely didn't work for me. Paper loading is incredibly awkward and inconvenient, and the slot for paper very badly designed. This makes double-sided printing a real pain, since you have to manually re-insert the paper to do that. The upshot is that I'm giving it to a non-profit who won't be troubled by these deficiencies and buying an Epson that's better designed. Expensive lesson. Learn from mine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Anonymous from HP Printer 5100 The only problem with this printer is figuring out how to put cartridges in initially. There is not a pictorial step by step on how to remove the packing inside the printer. Other than that, printer works fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by kami21 from Overall good product When I received this printer I was expecting beautiful prints out of box. Was a little disappointed at the beginning. The prints were blurry and there was an unbearable beeping noise coming out of the back the printer - tried resetting and it didn’t help. Suddenly the noise stopped, I changed the printing settings in the software and this machine finally showed what it is capable of! I have to say it is a bit slow but the quality is very good. It’s easy to set up and filling out the cartridges with ink is sort of fun! Other than it being slow the only other con I noticed so far is if you print small cards they don’t line up straight so the print comes out not aligned to the card. Other then that it’s a really good product and hopefully the inks will not run out too fast!

Rated 5 out of 5 by JustJenny07 from An Amazing printer that you didn’t know you needed I absolutely love this printer! It was a breeze to set up. Super simple and easy breezy to install. Set up took about 20 minutes before I was up and printing. This printer comes with up to three years of bonus ink. I really like the fact that the ink cartridges are refillable which you’re frankly makes the ink more affordable. Printing is fast and the printer is not loud at all. I love that I can print, copy and scan all from my phone. This printer is just super easy to use and a pleasure to own. The ink comes out clear and there is no smudging. This printer is the best printer I’ve ever owned. I do not regret this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by rewardsibanda from I didn’t expect this! I’ve been using laser printers for decades, and I was always under the impression that inkjet printers could never match the quality and day to day yield of a laser printer. This product has happily proved me wrong. No smudges yet, no paper jams and the colors are surprisingly vibrant. This was definitely a must have for my home office, and I’m beyond happy with this product and purchase. I highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Nasu08 from HP Smart Tank 5104 review My favourite thing about the HP smart Tank 5104 has to be the ink situation. I was so tired of buying expensive cartriges, and the giant ink tanks on this thing are a game changer. They are easy to fill and ink seems to last forever, which is huge money saver. The print quality is great for my regular documents and I really like the borderless photos printing feature. Other than being ink tank, the wireless feature really add a lot of value. I like that I can print wirelessly from my phone via Hp Smart app or laptop which is very convenient. However, my biggest complaint is that it doesn't have automatic duplex printing. This is a big let down for me. You have to manually flip the pages over to print on both sides, which is a huge pain and a feature I really miss from my old printer. For regular home use, it's been a reliable printer.

does the Smarttank ink system last longer than a regular ink cartridge system ? For a moderate amount of printing?

Asked by: Printkitty
Hello. Thanks for your question. The HP Smart Tank 5103 All-in-One Printer comes with ink bottles that can print up to 6000 pages in color or black. Compared to traditional ink cartridges, its Smart Tank system tends to last longer for moderate printing needs—though how long it lasts will depend on what you print.

Is this printer able to be used - wired - and if so, does it come with the needed cords? If it can be used wired, and I just need to get a cord, ***is this the case for all HP printers?***

Asked by: GoGoGadgetDoom
Hello. Thanks for your question. Yes, the HP Smart Tank 5103 All-in-One Printer can be used with a wired connection. It comes with the necessary power cord, but if you need a USB A to B 2.0 cable to connect it to your computer, you will need to purchase it separately if you don't have one. All the current HP printers will have the capability to be connected to the computer with the USB A to B 2.0 cable.

I have a 200 page document. Can it scan all 200 pages at once to the same PDF file ? I only seen to be able to scan 5 pages then it makes a new odd file.

Asked by: Need to scan large
Hello. Thanks for your question. The HP Smart Tank 5103 All-in-One Printer does not have an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), which means it can only scan one page at a time. If you need an ADF, we recommend considering the HP Smart Tank 7301 or 7602 All-in-One printers, which do include this feature. The ADF can handle up to 35 pages at a time. You can add more pages as the previous stack gets low. We recommend using the HP Smart app. It will allow you to scan and save the scanned pages as a single PDF. You will be able to rename the file also. The HP ScanJet Pro N4600 fnw1 is as standalone scanner that has an ADF that can handle up to 100 pages at a time.
