Connection was from HDMI to HDMI ports but I had to return the first desktop back to HP after numerous hours on the phone for return authorization. The second desktop received had the same problem, the desktop didn't recognize the monitor. Again after many hours on the phone, the last tech rep I talked with finally asked if there were another HDMI port and there was. Problem solved. Problem with HP was that there were NO instructions where a monitor, printer, etc. should be plugged. For the HDMI port, the website specs indicated 1 (one) port and not 2 (two)

However, you can use an external USB CD/DVD drive with this computer. These external drives can easily be connected to one of the USB ports on the desktop.

    Thank you for your question! The motherboard in this Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop is 11.45 inches by 7.99 which is a proprietary size. An ATX motherboard size is 12 inches by 9.6 inches. A micro-ATX (mATX) motherboard measures 9.6 by 9.6 inches. A mini-ITX motherboard measures _6.7 by 6.7 inches. As the motherboard inside the case is too large for a micro ATX or mini-ITX then this case is neither. The case will be a proprietary size designed for this HP Victus 15L.
