HP sales rep provided inaccurate information
HP customer service (sales) stated the hub would work with my HP laptop. I provided S/N and model and advised the sales rep that the USB-C port had limited capabilities. The HP rep reiterated that the hub will work. Ultimately, the hub did not work and it needed to be returned and amount paid refunded

Doesn’t Work – No Support from HP
I bought this dock and it never worked—not even once. I tested it with multiple computers, including a brand new one, and it still didn’t function, only working usb ports. Since the first day, I’ve been trying to return it, but HP support was extremely unhelpful. I contacted them several times, but they kept avoiding responsibility and refused to process the return. disappointed with both the product and the customer service.

Great Hub
I bought this hub in order to connect a new laptop to a larger monitor. It was very easy to set up. It gives me a lot more versatility when using my laptop in that I will have multiple screens. I highly recommend this hub.

DIDN'T WORK
After speaking with customer service reps at HP TWICE and being assured this would let me use two monitors with my laptop.(I gave the model # and serial #) I spent two hours trying to get this hub to work with my computer. It didn't work. I ended up calling Tech support only to be told my laptop can't do 2 monitors.

Extra ports without any hassles
Adding a few more ports fore my HP PC. Plug and play, recognized immediately and works as required. Wish the attachment cord was a bit longer so I could hide this device more easily. Satisfied with my purchase

I have an HP Envy (17m-ae111dx) w/ 1 USB-C port and 1 HDMI port. I would like 3 ext monitors w/o the laptop screen. If not possible, I would like 2 ext monitors w/ the laptop screen. Is the USB-C port capable of 1 or 2 monitor expansion?
Thank you for your question! The USB-C port on the HP ENVY Laptop 17m-ae111dx is DisplayPort compatible. Meaning it can be used with a Dock for multiple displays. This should be able to support two external displays without a problem with most HP Docks.

Will video out work on laptop model 7B5R1UA#ABA? I tried using the Universal USB C docks and they do not work. I can get the USB hub and the network but no video out to dual monitors.
According to the ports listed under the specifications, the 7B5R1UA does not have the necessary port for compatibility with Docks and Hubs.

Will my HP 17-cp0700dx work with this? I had problems with a wavlink WL-UMD05 not allowing HDMI signals to monitors, but my laptop displays fine on these monitors when connected directly to laptop's HDMI output, Don't want to waste time and have to return

Hello Adam and thank you for your question! This will support two 4K monitors at a 30Hz refresh rate via one DisplayPort and one HDMI. This Hub is compatible with PCs with an available USB Type-C® port integrated with USB Power Delivery and DisplayPort. If there is a symbol of a lightning bolt (Thunderbolt 3) next to the USB-C port, then you can use this port to charge and transfer a video signal. This port supports Display Port alt-mode.

The HP Universal USB-C Multiport Hub (50H98AA) will not work for charging or external monitors with the HP 17-cn3033cl laptop, as its USB-C port only supports data transfer. However, you can use a universal USB docking station. Make sure the docking station has the video ports that are on the monitors, i.e. HDMI.

This USB-C Hub features a DisplayPort and an HDMI port out. Not a USB-C video out. However, an additional DisplayPort to USB-C cable can be used to make the DisplayPort compatible with a USB-C monitor.

Hub not working. I checked my driver and it is current. Monitor flickers on and off. I restarted my computer and it worked for about 5 minutes.

Will this hub allow me to connect 2 monitors and use the extend feature for the HP EliteBook 840 G3? There is NOT the lightning bolt symbol next to the USB-C port. I'm fine if that port doesn't charge, but I do think I'll need it to transfer video.
Hello and thank you for your question! This HP Universal USB-C Multiport Hub requires that the USB-C port on your HP EliteBook 840 G3 be DisplayPort compatible. Without having the model number or access to the build information it is impossible for this forum to be certain that the USB-C on your EliteBook will be compatible with DisplayPort. Unfortunately, not all USB-C ports are created equal. However, please contact HP Support and they should be able to tell you the port information on your PC. Also, if the port has a D next to it then it will be DisplayPort compatible and you will be good to go but probably without the charging.

I cannot get both external monitors to work through the hub. I have them set up with an older HP docking station and they worked fine. Monitor 1: connected via display port to display port on docking station; Monitor 2: (not working) display port to HDMI.
