The perfect printer
I absolutely love the hp smart tank all in one printer! It's was super easy to set up! This is the first printer I've purchased and I've definitely very pleased! We have already made so many fun things. Including cards (mothersday), bookmarks, coloring pages, personal photos, and charts! I'm very excited to discover more. This printer really is great!

Reliable Printer!
Initially the setup was rather confusing but once I set it up it's been used frequently for work and school projects. The color printng has been on point every single time. I love having the ability to guage the depth of the colors. I haven't experienced any fading tones even after using our printer for quite a while. I have been recommending the HP Smart Tank 5101 All-in-One Printer often.

All I need in a printer
I have used this printer for awhile before writing my review. Initially it was hard for me to setup because of my wifi issue (which I need dual bandwidth - need 2.4 ghz to connect). After resolving the problem, it was very easy to connect. So far it has been great. No subscription needed to use as I had laser printer which I need to subscribe every month to use it. The scanner is clear as can be. Love it!

Great tank printer
Setup of this item was relatively easy and fast and I found the most difficult part to be placing the paper inside the placer holder. Besides filling the ink tanks, the printer was set up the same way as any standard ink jet printer. The performance of printing was fast, reliable, and had very good color accuracy. It was also simple to set up on multiple devices ranging from PCs to phones. The only complaint I have is actually the paper holder. It falls down very easily without paper in it and can make it very difficult to refill paper as the notch is very small. I definitely wish HP had focused on making a more fixed permanent structure to hold the paper vs one that can be compacted into the body of the printer for transport.

Great easy to use printer
I received my printer around the time our old one had broken down which was perfect time. My partner and I were not sure what to expect of the setup process. It ended up taking us around 20 or so minutes to set up as the instructions were very easy to follow. The printer itself is lightweight and not bulky at all which fits perfectly on our shelf. So far the quality of the items we have printed has been amazing. Only thing I would say is that it's a bit louder than our previous printer but honestly not a big deal. We are excited to keep testing our new printer.

HP 5101
This printer appeals to me most for the longevity of the ink. I rarely print pictures at home due to how much ink it uses and am excited to start printing at home. The setup is still a little work in progress. I’m not quite tech savvy but with the help of my husband it is up and running. I printed my first picture and it came out fantastic! It does print regular pages very quickly. I have printed quite a few and it appears to have used little ink so far. I am excited to explore more projects as I get to know this printer better.

Surprisingly "heavy-duty" lightweight printer
I'm so happy I got this printer! I've been needing to update my office space, not just for me but for my home business, too. Setup is incredibly simple, mostly just removing cardboard pieces and tape, but every step was easy to follow along with in the setup instructions. In a few minutes, I was able to get started right away! From refilling to scanning high-quality sketches / drawings to printing bulk pages and files, this seems to be a winner! I really love how simple it is to see how much ink you have on the side of the machine and the ability to connect wirelessly makes this able to be placed virtually anywhere in my home without it feeling "anchored" to my studio desktop. If you need an inkjet that can print rich images on a budget, definitely look into this one! I'm pleased with everything I have printed so far and can't wait to print more impressive and larger scale projects soon.

Wireless printer
I've been searching for a wireless printer for awhile now and when i came across this one I knew it was a great fit for my family needs. With it being wireless we can print from any device and it helps with kids homework assignments to printer something off for work with easy. The instructions were easy to follow and the ink is a good price too. The printer's speed is efficient for the work I am printing. The items I have printed so far are bright and clear so far.

Love how easy it is to use
I was super excited to try this HP printer. This printer is very lightweight and not to bulky. Which is usually hard to find in a printer. All the pieces for holding the paper to load and when it exits folds back into itself for easy storage. It's very easy to refill the ink which doesn't even look like it's been used after multiple prints with color. The colors are very vibrant without smearing or bleeding. The scanner on top works amazingly without distorting the images. The app that is attached to the printer is very easy to use from your phone. Super convenient. I definitely recommend this product.

Great Little Printer
I have been wanting to get my hands on an ink tank printer for a while, and I am very pleased with this one. It was easy to set up and get connected to Wi-Fi, so I can print from multiple devices in my house with no problem. I have not had to refill the tanks yet, but that looks like a simple process.
I use this printer for both home and business use, and the quality has been great. I was also impressed by the speed at which it prints. My first print job was a 2-page document (black and color). I hit the print button and it quickly spit out a page. I was waiting for a moment for the second page, when I realize that it had already printed that one as well. I have also used the scan function a couple of times, and that works nicely.

***Update: I've been using this printer for a little bit and everything has been fantastic. I've been able to connect wirelessly with no issues. The app has a great feel to it and it's very user friendly. This is the second "tank" printer I have tried and have been very happy with this one. The print quality and speed on this one is quite a bit better than the other one I've used. Overall I'm happy and impressed with this printer, tank ink is the way to go!
I just set it up and haven't used it much yet, but the set up was really easy and it has me excited to use it. I love the tank system and this was a great system to install.

Amazing!!
I love how it was very light printer, and easy to unbox, it was protected by the inside of the packaging, easy to remove all the plastic tape from all the protection, it was included with 4 ink, the only cons that I face was putting the print head, I was having a hard time taking out the orange protector inside. But I manage to remove it in 10 minutes keep pulling it. I have say the time it prints is great for me, you just have to be patient with it, and it’s very clean and neat, the color was also great,it’s vivid and bright. that’s it, this is my first printer, so I am so happy to have it, it was an all in one. So very convenient for me and my children who are in high school.

You know your an adult when you get excited about a printer haha! I have struggled with other brands of printers for quite a few years, i am happy to say this is the best printer i have ever owned! When you unbox the printer, HP makes it easy to take it out of the box by having 2 plastic bag handles on either side of the box. Take out the brown box on top, pull out the handles, place the brown box back on top, then pull the printer out of the box. Next find the instruction manual and find the QR code to download the app. The app will guide you through how to set up the printer. There are pictures and instructions that are super user friendly. If you are not tech friendly, you are in good hands, with the HP app printer setup. Ink was easy to uncap, and place on the ink reservoir. As soon as you place the ink Bottle on top, it drains right in, no problems. It’s also very easy to connect the printer to your network. Honestly the easiest printer set up I’ve ever dealt with. The app has many functions, theres even print outs for your kids loaded on there. As far as the print quality, it is gorgeous. Beautiful professional looking prints. I can’t recommend the Hp smart tank 5101 enough. Whoops, i forgot one the the best features of this printer, the refillable ink! No more refilling messy cartridges! This alone makes the printer worth trying out. The only thing i wish was different was the size of the black ink refill, I wish it was 2 small bottles vs. one large bottle, because it is easier to store the small one in the drawer under my printer. I can’t not fit the large bottle in my drawer.

The little printer that could
HP has made huge leaps in improvement, maintenance and convenience with the smart tank printer. Filling ink and refilling is now an absolute breeze - gone are the days of having to swap out these weird boxy printer cartridges that were somewhat of a pain to swap in and out. Simply turn the appropriate colored ink bottle upside down onto the nozzle, and remove when it has stopped filling, a completely leak/drip free experience due to the nature of the rubber seals they put on the bottles. The device itself feels well constructed, hinges move smoothly and all pieces feel firm and solid, no flimsiness or feeling like something may break when opening the face. Setup and wireless set up was so smooth and convenient, using the HP app setup was essentially automatic aside from signing into your HP account and clicking a bluetooth button on the printer. Printing takes approx 30 seconds for the device to receive the printing instructions from the PC, and another 15-25 seconds per page depending on the amount of content on said page. Printing a 1040 for example, was about 20 seconds a page, print quality being fantastic. Scanning is quick and clear. With the HP app and print anywhere, you can print directly from your phone or any other device, gone are the days of having to email yourself a document and get on your PC to print it out. It's a fantastic little printer. May not be the fastest but, and for the price, I think it's a great personal use/home office printer.

Unfortunately, there were no accompanying notifications to explain its cause or how to resolve it.

Perfect home printer
I needed a printer for work and personal use. I tried another brand but was not satisfied with the quality of the print or the cost for the ink cartridges. When the HP Smart Tank 5101 arrived, I was impressed from the moment that I opened the box. It was light weight and easy to set up. It took me twenty minutes from opening the box to setting up the printer to connect with my personal laptop and work laptop. Filling the ink tanks was mess-free and a breeze thanks to the color coded bottles and ink ports. I love that the tank level indicators are on the front of the printer and which allows me to see just how much ink I have left. The amount of ink used for printing pages seems very minimal and leaves me confident I will be able to print numerous work documents throughout the year without fear of running low on ink. I have even tested printing from my phone using the HP Smart App and was pleased with the app as well. I would recommend this printer to all.

My favorite printer
I like this printer. 2 years of ink this will save me money. I downloaded the app and it was so easy to login.I enjoy access to free printable contents. It hold 100 sheets in tĥe tray. The ink was so easy to add and the colors are brand vibrant. I can use the app and printer from my phone, laptop, desktop and so can the whole family can download and use the app to print. I can copy, scan and print so many pages. We use it everyday and us different size paper and a gloss paper too.

Decent Little Printer
I’ve been using an old HP printer for the better part of last 10 years, it’s done the job it needed to do, but the ink was getting expensive; replacing all the colors plus blank ink is ~$150 every 3-6 months depending on usage. When I saw the Smart Tank and cost of ink I was all in, the initial setup was a little weird even for someone like me who is very tech oriented. After the initial setup it was pretty smooth sailing, I had to do software update and connect via HP Smart app to do some of the basic stuff I wanted to do.
Overall good printer in the time I’ve had it. Just a few minor annoyances, takes ~30 seconds or more to even start printer after you send the job and it’s kind of loud even in the “silent” mode, it does say the silent mode will make printing slower, but if it’s loud in the “silent” mode, I can only imagine regular mode.
We’ve already printed a couple hundred pages for Little League flyers, plus random stuff around the house for the kids and forms. The ink indicator says it’s still full which is a nice change, my other printer would have been dead most likely after all the pages I’ve printed. If I can get the “2 years” quoted out of the ink the came in the box I’ll be happy, even if I get a year that would be amazing.
Our printing is never consistent, so it’s good to have some options. I was looking at the ink cost, it’s about 1/3 of the cost from my previous printer even if I have to replace ink every year I’ll be elated, replacing ink every 3-6 months would still be a good savings.
If you need something that is “easy” to setup and doesn't cost an arm and a leg for ink replacement cost this is the way to go, most people won’t care if it takes a little extra to print since it does the job and does it well. Our pages come out crisper and are more like HD prints than we are used to. The dry time is also next to none on heavily saturated prints, we don’t have to wait a long time or watch for smearing which has been great.

Hp printers are always a great choice!
This is my second HP printer and I can say I truly do love this brand. I still have my old one that is working great but figured I’d give this one a try as an upgrade and I will say I am very happy I did. It was very easy to set up with the HP smart app. The printing was much faster than my old one and the quality was very clear and crisp. I would highly recommend this printer and brand to any family or friends who are in the market

Best Home Printer I’ve Used
The HP Smart Tank 5101 All-In-One is the best home printer I’ve ever owned. The step by step animation in the HP Smart App made set up a breeze. I was literally printing within minutes of taking the printer out of the box. The tank system for ink is easy to fill and refill. I love that I can actually see exactly how much ink I have left after projects. The ink bottles are recyclable which is great for the environment. The color prints are so vibrant! The print speed is fast. 12 pages per minute for black and white, and 5 pages per minute for color. It’s convenient that I can print, scan, or fax from anywhere on any device. Connectivity issues are solved by the self healing wi-fi. The only minor problem I have with this printer is the screen is very small and the buttons are hard to see. All said, this is a pretty perfect printer!

Beyond the Box: Navigating the HP Smart Tank 5101
I recently got my hands on the HP Smart Tank 5101 All-in-One Printer, and I'm here to share my thoughts about it:
Ink Tank System: One of the best features is the ink tank system, which fill the cartridges. While it's meant to be convenient and cost-effective when we print high quantity of paper.
Setup Experience: Setting up the printer wasn't as smooth sailing as I expected. I understood filling the tanks, because that how other printers with tank set, but It is a bit tricky to install the cartridges too, and it took me longer than anticipated to get everything up and running. It could definitely be more user-friendly in this aspect.
Print Quality: When it comes to print quality, the HP Smart Tank 5101 delivers really nice results, clear print and I try to print heavy weight cardstock, and it can take it easily.
Functionality: As an all-in-one printer, it does handle scanning and copying tasks adequately. However, I found the scanning process to be a bit sluggish at times, especially when dealing with multiple pages. It gets the job done eventually, but it could be more efficient.
Connection set up: we may need to download the HP SMART APP in the computer or phone to set up WIFI connection.
In conclusion, the HP Smart Tank 5101 All-in-One Printer is a decent option for those on a budget looking for a high quantity/quality printing solution. While it is not the easiest one to set up, it does offer some value for money. Excellent HP Smart Tank printer!
Today I opened my new HP printer and set it up. I was surprised at how easy the process was considering it was a new kind of printer that I had never tried before. I was able to fill the tanks and set it up in around 15 minutes. I was impressed at how easy it was to follow the instructions and set it up for printing. I tried a couple of practice pages to see the quality and was quite impressed. The colors are vibrant and I love the fact that I’m not going to be running out of ink quickly. The process was so easy and I appreciate the thorough instructions. It was easy to connect to Wi-Fi as well. So far, I am definitely a fan of this new HP printer and would recommend it to others.

Thank you for your question! No, the HP Smart Tank 5000 All-in-One Printer does not use ink cartridges and is not eligible for Instant Ink as a result of this. However, the HP Smart Tank 5000 All-in-One Printer uses refillable ink tanks which gives the lowest cost per page of most any HP Printer. A typical HP black ink bottle has enough ink for up to 6,000 pages while the color ink bottles contain ink for up to 8,000 pages.

Thank you for your interest in the HP Smart Tank 5000. That unit does not have auto-duplex and would require you to manually do it. The HP Smart Tank 6001 model does have the auto-duplex feature for printing double sided.

If I am away from home, can I still print from my iPhone remotely? And if so, is there an app? Does this printer support 5.0Ghz wifi?
You can print with an iPhone outside of the network for this unit using the HP Smart Advance, which is a free upgrade to the free HP Smart app with this unit. It does not support 5.0GHz Wi-Fi, so you will want to make sure your router supports a 2.4GHz signal.
