Rated 5 out of 5 by Mathew M. from Great all-rounder for engineering students. I picked up the Omnibook 7 for about $1200 with a student discount and an ethernet adapter. In my experience, it is the best laptop with a dedicated GPU that is still going to get you through the day and not break the bank. That's a pretty specific set of needs, but I had a specific set of requirements just due to my major and my hobbies. I wanted a long battery life of 5+ hours of uptime so that I could get through a full day of classes. Additionally, I needed a lot of RAM to access large master assemblies in CAD. Finally, I wanted a dedicated GPU for rendering projects and a little gaming on the side. So far, it has been pretty good at meeting all of these needs. Coming from a laptop with about an hour and a half of uptime on battery and only 8gb of ram, this was a very good upgrade, and I still don't think I'm maximizing its potential just because of my old habits from the other system. It charges in like an hour, and the battery can handle several hours of CAD work with even more to spare on long shop days. I haven't put the GPU through its paces entirely yet, but I can already assume it won't be running ultra raytracing on any modern games. For the few older games I have played though, it runs high graphics wonderfully at about 90fps. I don't expect the GPU to be the bottleneck, that would probably be the CPU due to the lunar lake architecture from Intel focusing on efficiency over performance, a welcome trade-off for most students. I do have a few things to pick at. The most annoying of which is the laptop will soft lock if put to sleep for more than 5 minutes, requiring you to hold down the power button until it shuts down and then restart it. I got around this by using hibernate when I want to keep my programs open. YouTube videos have about a 50% chance of opening as a stuttering mess that can only be fixed by restarting the laptop; I have updated all of the drivers, went to a lower resolution, turned off ambient mode, etc, and nothing helps. I'm sure there is some resolution I just haven't discovered yet. The screen isn't very bright and will cast reflections very easily. Personally, I'd prefer a matte screen with no touch features. The last thing is that it does not pass the one finger open test, which being a 5lb laptop is kind of disappointing. The build quality is great. I like the aluminum frame, and the keyboard is wonderful. I do find myself needing to clean it often though cause any oil from my hands shows up very clearly. The laptop is massive compared to some, but it does not feel as big due to its slim build. Despite weighing almost as much as my old gaming laptop it feels way more portable. I prefer smaller backpacks so I did need to go on quite the hunt for a bag that could fit it right, but it would fit fine in most bags over 20L. Setup was just like any other windows laptop: remove bloatware, disable a bunch of start-up tasks, and set to dark mode. I did need to do quite a few updates, including a bios update, but HP makes that pretty easy, and NVIDIA's app gave me access to the game ready graphics drivers. I will be giving this 5 stars just due to its ability to hit the sweet spot between performance and efficiency that I needed. Any laptop is going to have its quirks and this one's don't prevent it from being an outstanding product, I only mention them so that anyone who needs the same specs i do, can be aware of them from day 0.

Rated 2 out of 5 by dc20022 from Finger pad difficulty The only problem I have with the new laptop is the finger pad used for selecting text etc. It's too hard to press with the left side. You have to press 2 or 3 times to select. Right works fine for moving.

I was on the phone with them many hours because I couldn't register my lap top. I regret getting this product, I'm telling my friends and family to buy Apple.
