First time HP buyer 2025 from
Works OK... but does not feel like an upgrade
Used a smaller non-HP laptop for 5+ years for work until it finally died. Thought this would be a great upgrade, seeing the processors and RAM that I could choose to attach and get my devices updated to 2025. I also heard in the past that the Envy laptops were pretty powerful.
The laptop does feel powerful, especially its weight... it's physically the heaviest laptop I've owned in a while, but maybe that is a testament to the power it can bring. However, my biggest gripe is much more serious. It is slow. Yes it will do the work I need it to do, but not as fast as I remember. It gets really really hot too. My previous laptop definitely opened up my software faster than this one and did not get as hot. I also have more trouble with the WiFi on this computer compared to any other device I use in my home.
Overall, it's a powerful machine that will do what I need it to do. But it doesn't really feel like an upgrade considering my previous laptop worked really well for 5+ years. I'm scared that this one will just give up on me after 2-3 years... fingers crossed.

The fan noise was an absolute deal breaker for me and I sent this computer back. If you are okay with the fans running during little CPU stress and always ON when during moderate CPU stress, then this is a great computer. If you want a quiet machine, look to something fan less like a MacBook Air.

Received my Laptop but...
I usually buy Lenovo but someone suggested HP so I bought one during the cyber Monday sale and due to delivery issues did not get it until February of the next year. The delivery issues I blame on FedEx but I am not crazy about the device. My charger does not work so I usually borrow others which can be inconvenient to embarrassing depending on the environment (home vs. work). I plan to ask for a replacement charger and will update when I get a response.

Excellent laptop--fast, reliable, versatile. My only, potential, concern is that the battery does not last anywhere near what the advertisement indicates. However, it does re-charge very quickly (as advertised).

What generation is the laptop?
Hello. Thanks for your question. On this HP Envy x360 laptop, you have two processor options. The Intel Core 7 150U belongs to the 13th generation (Raptor Lake-U Refresh), released in January 2024.
The Intel Core Ultra 7 155U is part of the 1st generation Core Ultra series, based on Meteor Lake architecture, and was released in December 2023. It introduces AI acceleration, improved graphics, and better efficiency compared to previous Intel Core processors.
