Poor Speakers + Poor White Balance
I am very disappointment with the computer. Having the high frequency speakers pointing down and to the front provides poor sound quality under ALL conditions. A downloaded equalizer boosts the high frequencies when I have it on my lap. But, when placed on a hard surface, it sounds tinny. I came to expect the highest quality Bang & Olufsen speakers on my previous HP laptop.
Also, the monitor displays whites as a slight yellow-gray. This even set at the brightest setting and reducing the green and red in the white balance.
I would NEVER recommend the new ENVY computer to anyone who wants quality sound or display quality.

I can't really give a review since the pc arrived and the display would not turn on. It was returned and I am still shopping for a new PC.

Dictator Microsoft
The Microsoft setup on a new computer is insulting. I considered returning the HP laptop because of the Microsoft setup demanding an online sign up, not with HP, BUT with Microsoft!
I didn't buy an HP computer to be forced into accepting anything from I don't want from Microsoft.

Great but without an SD or DVD readers or writers. :-(
When I purchased this computer, I showed the customer service rep a copy of what I had purchased four years prior, I said I wanted the same exact thing. This new computer did not include a memory card reader for SD, micro D and CF Memory Cards, as well as an External DVD Drive and Writer. I had to purchase them. I was very disappointed about that.

Bully tactics
I recently purchased an HP Envy Laptop. (It shipped several days after the initial ship date.) An offer that came with it was a 30-day free trial of Microsoft Office. Since my institution provides me with an MS Office license I did not want but could not opt out of this offer.
After installing and trying to run my licensed version of Office I was still required to agree to the free offer. There was no other option. The HP laptop was relentless in strongarming me into running the free trial and paying for Office. When I refused my licensed app (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) quit. There was no way of running my licensed copy of MS Office.
Numerous messages to HP support about this dilemma were NEVER acknowledged. Finally, Microsoft tech support remotely took over my new HP laptop and eliminated the free offer mousetrap and nagging messages. It took them almost an hour. I struggled a long time on this and resent the aggressive forceful tactics. Terrible, terrible experience.

Acceptable laptop, but expected better
Payed for a good laptop and got an acceptable one. While I didn't expect a gaming level laptop, this new machine seems cheaply built compared to previous HP laptops. Most likely the bloatware on the system is why its slow, but you'd think a new system would run laps around th 5 year old one....and yet I miss my old machine.

Can't find registered products, contracts, or other information on website
The hardware is fine, but the website is so confusing it is unusable. Can't find registered products or contracts for Total Care or Smartfriend on website, so don't know if I am covered.
No User Guides are supplied with the laptop, and the port diagrams in the one I found online for this model do not match the ports on the hardware. I need to know what the different ports are,
I am hearing-impaired so the phone is difficult for me, but customer service only gives me phone numbers to call. They want serial numbers, but the serial numbers are not in the locations the help articles say they are supposed to be.
I need to contact HP by email, and you should have this information in your records,

The right laptop for me.
I bought my HP Envy 17.3 Laptop on HP.com and my sales rep was a man named Bruce. Bruce thoughtfully listened after asking me to describe why I needed a new laptop and how I planned to use it. He took the time to help me sort through exactly what features I needed. I love my new laptop because it fits my needs. Bruce made the difference.

New Envy purchase
I was in need of a new Laptop; I was helped online during this purchase and have been mostly satisfied with the choice I made.
One unresolved issue is technically related, and I need to get this resolved, solved or explained.
I am very pleased with the upgraded operating system.

Love this Laptop
I am thoroughly impressed with my HP Envy 17.3-Inch Laptop PC! The large 17.3-inch screen provides ample space for multitasking and an immersive viewing experience. The facial recognition feature is incredibly convenient, allowing for quick and secure login without the hassle of typing passwords. This high-tech touch really enhances the overall user experience and adds an extra layer of security.
While the laptop's performance and features are top-notch, there are a couple of minor drawbacks worth noting. The speakers occasionally sound a bit blown, which can be distracting during audio playback. Additionally, the mouse pad is quite large, and I sometimes accidentally brush across it while typing, which can shift the cursor unexpectedly.
Despite these small issues, the HP Envy 17.3-Inch Laptop PC is an excellent choice for anyone needing a powerful and feature-rich laptop with a generous display. Highly recommended!

Odd Issue turning off and on
The only "bad" thing is that I have 2 HP Monitors and one turns off, if I am not on the monitors the lapto screen will go black while I am on video calls, etc. This did not happen with my dell, I have heard other HP users have the same problem.

Good performance&cost. Bad case design for upgrade
I've bought multiple HP Envy laptops over the years. They appear to offer the best bang-for-buck compared to other vendors. I mostly use them as desktops (i.e. not looking for portability). The only issue I have with them is how they blank out/appear dead when upgrading memory. I wasn't aware of this and thought the machine had been bricked. Eventually it came up and is working fine but I've never seen this behavior before. When upgrading my Thinkpads, the system POSTs right away and comes right up. And what happened to the days when the internal storage and memory were accessible with a simple cover removal? This need to have to remove the entire bottom casing is just bad.

HP Envy Laptop 17t-da000
This is an excellent replacement for my old HP Laptop (Pavilion 17-f215dx). The only issue was the data transfer vendor, LapLink PC Mover; it took me three calls to the vendor to finally get a tech support person who knew what they were doing. Once achieved all was goof

Nice New Laptop
I bought this to replace my older 2017 HP Envy laptop of similar design and size. No regrets. I bought this for a "cannot refuse" sale price even though I was not actively searching. Glad I did though. I like that Microsoft Co-Pilot, Windows 11 and all newer AI related software comes loaded on this machine. My previous laptop wasn't Windows 11 compatible. I really like it and highly recommend!

I have still not been able to use this machine because HP seems unprepared to repair it!
Something failed and before I was able to get any use out of this machine the system board failed. The repair center in Texas does not have any replacement system boards so they added two weeks to what has become a month-long mess. I shipped it to them on 7/20 and they now estimate an 8/19 return!

Computer and Service review
The laptop is excellent. Well manufactured, operates perfectly and very intuitive. The customer service is HORRIBLE, unless you purchase a customer service plan. Once you purchase a custormer service plan, you receive all the help you need. Don't expect a lot of help when you first purchase an HP computer or laptop. I expected to get SOME customer service assistance for the first 30 days....NOPE.

Performance
The boot time is great, and the facial recognition makes turning on this computer my favorite. The intel core ultra 7 handles many different tasks without slowing down. I have used this laptop almost daily for 2 months now with no issues.
