I don't like the small paper tray and I don't care for the photo set-up. I made a lousy choice. I feel like I went back in time instead of buying something more modern and convenient. I dislike the whole configuration, but I'm stuck with it now.

It has a huge footprint and it is always offline and needing to be reconnected to the network. It is a piece of garbage and I would never recommend it or any HP product. I was basically tricked into getting this by HP Customer Service because my old HP Envy 4500 (nine years old and had performed great) wasn't working properly and they assured me that this was what I needed. I didn't. HP Customer Service out right lied to me and said the old printer was obsolete and not supported and I needed this new 7900 . I'm not supposed to include any review of customer service in my product review but I have reached out several times trying to contact someone at HP and have not been successful. So maybe someone at HP will see this and realize they have a bunch of unscrupulous employees in their customer service department.

How is this printer at scanning photos?  I had an HP Photosmart quite awhile ago and it was great at scanning photos...very clear.

I bought this printer for the purpose of scanning photos. They come out looking blurry. You would expect an expensive printer like this to make things very clear but the fact is my dad has an HP OfficeJet printer that came out many years ago and the pictures look clearer than this HP Envy printer. I even called HP technical support and they couldn't fix it because this is just this printer is. It's pathetic actually. I highly recommend not to buy it unless you don't mind blurry looking pictures.

How do I get 3 months free ink with a 2 year warranty?

During the setup using the HP Smart app, you get a request to join HP+ which is complete free as well. If you accept that offer you get the 2-year warranty and then it gives you an offer for the free months of Instant Ink and you just continue to that section to claim the free months. I got the printer yesterday and while printing photos on hp glossy paper (which came with the printer) - the ink is all over the place. I called for tech line and we tried everything its still the same. Very disappointed by the purchase.

Hello. Thanks for your question. You can use the HP Smart app to scan to email. You would use the scan option on the HP Smart app to share via email. To make it easier the next time, we recommend using Shortcuts. It allows you to make a Shortcut, i.e. a scanned item to be emailed to this email address.
