I really like HP Printers

Great printer for a great price
Great home printer. I replaced an HP ENVY D100 model, which died after about 15 years, with this model. They seemed comparable. It does low volume printing, scanning and copying really well. Only thing I miss is the screen on the D100. I also like the auto printer supply service which I could not get on the previous model. Cost is excellent.

Not easy to install
I spent at east 5 days trying to get printer up and running. Automated system was no help. No way to talk to a person on the phone. Mysteriously on 5th day going to 123.HP I was immediately connected to a chat person without asking. Eventually told me I had a virus and needed a $250/yr. Firewall program. Suspicious so I declined. I'm still slogging thru 164-page on-line "guide" to figure out how to do something other than make a 1-to-1 copy. Would it kill you to include a $2 printed booklet?

Don't Buy This Product
This machine took hours to initially connect with my Mac desktop. I think its system of colored and flashing lights is needlessly indirect for indicating its current condition, or failure, or requirement. Why doesn't HP just use plain old text, on a lighted screen, to say the ink supply is low, the paper is jammed, etc.? Why force the user to learn some silly color code? But worst of all, on every sixth page I printed, the thing scrawled some odd pattern at the very bottom, or just spit the paper out without the bottom portion at all. Unacceptably bad performance.

I am constantly having issues with the Envy 6055 going offline. What do I do?
If you have an Apple product the HP printer has trouble communicating.
Try this work-around 1. make note of the non-printed document, then 2. unplug the printer, 3. wait 1 to 3 minutes, 4. then plug in the printer, t5. hen wait while it re-boots, 6. then re-locate your document and 7. order the print. This daily re-booting often works.

What is the best HP paper to use for this printer?
It will depend more on what you want to print. These are the media types it supports Plain Paper; HP Photo Papers; HP Matte Brochure or Professional Paper; HP Matte Presentation Paper; HP Glossy Brochure or Professional Paper; Other Photo Inkjet Papers; Other Matte Inkjet Papers; Other Glossy Inkjet Papers; Plain Paper, Light/Recycled. If it is mostly documents, the bright white https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-bright-white-inkjet-paper-500-sht-letter-85-x-11-in standard 24lb is a great option for this printer.

can you scan simply by using a button on the front panel or do you have to access scanning via the app?

I've used HP for over 20 years. I recently bought the 6052e for home use to print and scan via usb. It's the worst printer I've ever encountered at work before I retired, or home. It will not work correctly for scanning. BEWARE OF THESE 6000 printers!
HP Team Grant -- Thank you for your reply. But I spent almost two days on the phone with HP support. We finally gave up (HP person and me). It only prints -- HP computer, updated software, won't recognize printer for scanning. (but will print from computer).

Can you print from the scanner?
Your specs on this printer says it can not print from scanner. Which to means you scan to a file, will not print directly from scanner. Which means it does not function a copier. You can save as a copy then print the file. This is posted on Amazon for this printer.
