High Quality but Minor Software Installation Issue
This HP color LaserJet printer prints quickly with high-quality text, graphics and images. Its copy and scanning functions work well. It appears and feels well-built. The only negative I found is that installation of its software onto a Windows 11 platform is not integrated into the fully automated installation of the printer software that is provided for earlier versions of Windows. This was not obvious and caused me to have to closely read some online material and then install the printer software for Windows 11 to replace the automated installation printer software.

Paper tray doesn't close with legal paper. The front of the tray sticks out 2 inches and it looks like it's broken. It's not broken just a horrible design.

Very good printer- however time-consuming setup.
Very quiet, quick and excellent quality. However it is mean to automatically do 2-sided copying- this means the user does not need to take the paper from the feeder and re-insert it in the paper tray. My IT specialist was not able to get this to work automatically and I spent an hour and a half on the phone with HP support to get this problem resolved. This should not be the case- that software and that modification should be loaded by default since the copier is sold with this feature.

Waited a bit to see what, if any issues we had. None. It does a great job printing and/or scanning. 4 stars are for the insistence on proprietary toner cartridges. Don't know yet if supply of these will become an issue (availability).

Set up instructions for the scanner
They don't tell you in any of the instructions when setting up the printer/scanner that the scanner is turned off and you can't turn it on it settings.

Excellent product, tough set-up
We are more than happy with the printer itself, the quality of printing, and the improved smaller size from other HP MFPs. However, the reviews about setup are credible. We found either an issue with the wireless connection, the app that commands the set up, or both cause very frustrating issues with the set up of one (HP) computer. The last computer connecting had to be connected via the USB connection to mitigate the problems we were having. We still get errors of missing components in the software install which we expected on this PC because of the issues we ran into. However, it is working fine nonetheless, and prints and excellent document.

Disappointed printer
It’s not wireless. You can not print from phone of 2nd laptop when hooked to desk top without pulling out wires and rebooking up. Not happy for $750 printer.

Hands-down the BEST all-in-one Color Laser Printer
HP's Multi-Function-Device [MFD] is a superbly engineered device that is solidly constructed, provides beautiful color and B&W output, and is amazingly easy to set up. I love the small footprint of the device, taking up a meager 1.5 sq. ft. of desk real estate. Or a printer stand/credenza. Cost per page is much lower than an inkjet, making it sustainable and affordable for most SOHO businesses.

It’s NOT wireless. This was recommended by an HP customer service person. I can’t believe anything that HP sells in this price range is sold without wireless technology. I’m exploring HP smart to meet my need.

I've had better
HP has evolved over the years, and I no longer find them the value I used to. They used to have spectacular print quality. I have a 15 year old color LaserJet that does better than this. I switched because the mirrors got dirty causing the print to look faded and I needed an all-in-one to replace my inkjet and reduce the footprint on my desk. For the price I expect more. Getting this hooked up was a pain. The terminology in the description led me to believe this printer was wireless. Getting a direct Lan cable to the printer has been impossible due to the house design. I ran a temporary cable to the printer, and everything hooked up fine though you have to go find which software you want to install (I remember the good days when it came with a CD), Now the problem ... One day I was in a hurry to print a document and didn't want to run the temporary cable through the house, so I decided to quickly install the USB driver. It looked correct. The printer properly detected the printer and the accessories, but no matter what I tried, the printer would only install the monochrome driver and I really needed to print a color document. While trying to fix it a tragedy of events took place and I ended up rebuilding my computer. I never had this much trouble getting a printer to work. HP has complicated things too much and has started relying on generic print drivers instead of developing their own and it shows in the quality.

Advertising for this product is deceiving.
I had no information that explained what the final 3 letters of the product ID meant. I was looking for a color Laser all in one printer to wirelessly connect to my home network. Only after attempting to integrate the product did I realize that it was NOY wireless. I had disposed of the packaging and now had to wait a week for a wireless model to arrive to secure packaging to return the original u it which was never used. I am awaiting authorization for the return which was promised to arrive in "one or two days". Crazy customer service on top of poorly described product capability.

Not good quality, poorly made. Cheap!
Would not recommend for office use. Printing 300 pages and it stopped half way thru and gave a warning that the printer was too hot and it would finish my print job later…poorly designed and manufactured.

having second thoughts
It is difficult to get all of the functions to work on my iMac. Even simple features like putting a document under the glass for a copy, won't work, says nothing in the document feeder. Seriously Scan feature does not work, have to put a usb into the printer.

HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479 fdw
I had used an Epson printer with the huge ink tanks for years and found it to be a source of frustration for me as my printer requirements are small; having to print only every month or two. I was always dealing with dried ink and had to spend too much time cleaning the heads to get it to print.
Though I've only had the LaserJet Pro a few weeks it is serving me well and I'm very happy with its performance. I would definitely recommend this printer.
