I was very excited to receive my new printer and scheduled my IT team to install it. We could not get the scanner to communicate with my desktop or scan in PDF format. After several days of phone calls with no success with HP, we finally got someone who spent a significant amount of time with our IT team. At the end, we were told that the model printer had a problem with the platform and that a “fix” would not be available for three months. At that point, I joined the call. I was upset that we had spent $1,000 on a printer that they sold knowing about this defect. Only then were we told that they could email us a workaround until the “fix” was released. Incredible. Shame on you HP. If you have a 479dfw, don’t waste your time. Ask for the workaround immediately.

Think twice before purchasing.
Extremely disappointed. I use this for printing, copying, scanning and fax for a business. No complaints with fax. I print documents from files and on more than one occasion, it will read error and all printing stops. I then have to go back through the documents printed from the file and figure out where it stopped. Time consuming. For scanning, I can only scan one document individually and will have many to scan separately. Maybe it's a user problem and I need help. Also, in scanning files it will be scanning the pages and then I received error message and everything scanned is lost and I have to start over. This is very time consuming and I do not have the time to redo the work over and over. I had a previous HP printer/scanner and it was wonderful and never had any complaints. I shouldn't have upgraded.

This will be a nice printer until one part breaks, and it costs too much to fix it sometime in the first two years. And Jesus make it easy on after market toner ya Dick’s.

Favorite printer
We own several of these printers where I work, and bought this one to replace an aging printer of another style. We love these because they are super reliable, easy to program, and the toner cartridges, while not cheap, are not as expensive as some others. Would not hesitate to purchase another one.

The printer works fabulous as expected. Scanning is fantastic. My biggest qualm is when printing/loading the paper tray with legal size, the paper tray sticks out the front. It’s a poor design. Second qualm is the price to replace printer cartridges.

Great printer +but be warned: price of HP tank ink is $855 every time you replace it!
The printer itself is a wonderful piece of technology for non-business purposes. THE COLOR REPLICATION & QUALITY IS TOP NOTCH. I gave it 5 stars!
My primary complaint is the EXCESSIVE COST OF THE 4 TANKS OF REPLACEMENT INK
=$855 ---FOR REPLACING THE INK THAT PRICE IS ABSURD! THE INK IS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE PRINTER ITSELF. WHAT KIND OF PROFIT DOES HP MAKE ON THIS PRODUCT, 400%? I'm not a business but a private hard working citizen.

I bought this printer for both personal use and my home based business needs. HP made the connection and setup process simple. I was able to quickly and easily connect all of my wireless devices as well as set up an ethernet connection to utilize the fax services this printer is capable of. The print quality is excellent!

Exceptional Laser 479 printer!!
Love the new Laser 479 printer, except that it won’t keep my preset settings saved. It is so much quieter and faster than the old laser 1320. I like the air print feature and so far it seams to not lose its ip address on my network like the old one did. It also prints color just as fast as b&w. Over all I’m very happy with it and glad I finally updated.

Ok, but pricey ink, and a little sluggish
The ink is quite pricey and the printer can be quite slow. Sometimes it prints on both sides automatically and other times I have to flip the paper over myself A good laser printer quality, but I expect faster response and easy double sided printing.

Disappointed
Love HP printers but not impressed with this one. Bought it to replace an old 4005dn. Printed a few workbooks and I'm getting sporadic, blotchy pages and some ghosting. Starter cartridges went WAY to fast. Good thing I ordered back ups. I will likely look for a replacement for this one now as well :/

Good Replacement for 2600n
This is a great machine! It was easy to set up on my network, and it was a good replacement for my old HP Color Laser Jet 2600n. It is fast, and the scanning gives excellent resolution. So far, it has met all my hobby and work-at-home needs.

Small business printer
The HP Color LJ Pro MFP M479fdw is serving our small business very well. It was especially important to have a bypass tray to print on envelopes and letterhead without having to unload the regular paper tray. Although, I have not been able to figure out how to scan using the touch screen, the HP Smart app makes this a simple task.

The printer I’ve always wanted
I love this printer! It does envelopes, the larger size paper, and card stock. It does have a fax feature that I don’t need but may use someday. I did not know at the time of purchase the same model came without the fax. This printer does everything I need in copying for home use. The setup was relatively easy but I’m still working on getting scan to email working. The high cost of the toner cartridges is a drawback but they do not have to be replaced as often as on the inkjet I have.

This printer is ideal for all of my needs, has a large screen display, quick printing and scanning. I recommend this printer for small to medium size offices. It is a great personal desk top size printer too. Hope you get to experience what I do everyday 6 days a week :) Gotta get one first though !!
