Good multifunction printer
Purchased this printer to replace a HP281fdw. The printer works well and very similar in functionality to the 281. I would have given a 5 star rating if the 283 used the same replacement toner cartridges as the 281 as I have multiple ones I previously purchased.

Very good printer for small office
This purchase was a replacement of our previous M283fdw printer. This is really an excellent printer for a small office with several employees using. Our printer is actually shared by 2 small businesses using a shared guest network, which required more set up and installation across numerous devices, and it slows down the functions a bit, but nothing unusual. It's very versatile, plenty fast for our needs, easy scanning, printing and copying. email printing very handy. Quality of printing very good. Just a note of caution, make sure you upload and register the printer onto your main HP account online when setting up, or you will become very frustrated at why it doesn't work when setting up.
This printer has a known issue with its power supply "burning out", and that is exactly what happened with our prior model. It cycles on and off dozens of times a day to save energy, but eventually the unit becomes unusuble with all kinds of issues. With this model we have now plugged it into a power strip and it is turned off every afternoon and weekends to prevent cycling. We also purchased an extended warranty. New unit performs flawlessly across all uses, really a breeze
I am personally a big fan of HPs software and applications, we make ample use of HP Smart apps, mobile faxing, phone scanning to PDFs, etc. It really is remarkably good software. Overall at the time of this writing, couldn't be more satisfied with the printer and a small amount of support we needed setting up.

Solid home office printer / scanner.
Solid color laser printer / scanner. I don't use the fax capability (what's fax, anyway?). The HP software is sort of stupid, but after a while I can get what I need done. Toner is stupid expensive ... I only buy HP toner and a full set of toner carts for this printer comes to almost twice the price of the printer.

Replacement high yield toner cartridges for this $490 all in one will cost you approx $410. With the supplied cartridges you should be able to print up to 7000 pages.

Terrible customer service. What has happened to HP?
The laser jet works well so far. My problem is that HP has become such a poor company in terms of customer service. I purchased the laser jet to replace a 9025 printer It broke. Literally. There was a roller rolling around loose in the 9025 and as a result the printer jammed constantly. This was the second 9025 to have this problem within 6 months. Your people couldn’t find the sales receipt (and I do not keep those) so they refused to honor the warranty or to assist me in returning the most recently broken 9025. Terrible experience.

There are not sufficient directions for setup. If something goes wrong, you need a tech advisor. Our on/off light still blinks and we cannot get it to go off.

Does not support 2-sided originals
The auto paper feed does not support 2 sided printed documents. This is clearly inconvenient if you need to scan or copy a large number of 2-sided documents. This is a major limitation that is not clearly specified in the description of the printer.

Fast Scanning and Crisp Printing
Fast! Our previous HP printer worked well for eight years, but it was a slow scanner. This new printer produces clear scans quickly with a smaller file size. I just finished producing monthly business reports, and the printing is impressively sharp. Great purchase!

Easy set up, kind of loud & prints slow
The setup was extremely easy, almost too easy!? It prints kind of slow, and it is loud. It works fine, as we have a small office with minimal printing needs. It is good for that, but if you have a high volume of printing & don't want to hear the printer, then you might not be satisfied with this printer.

This is the 2nd one I have bought. My first one was destroyed by Hurricane Ian's flood surge along with our home. I really liked it. It is very fast even in color, smaller than most of the Laser jet Pros, good color, etc.

Nice quality copies, but ink is ridiculous.
Some of the plastic inside wher the trays are adjusted seem ver flimsy. I hope they don’t break with normal use. The copies are very gods though and it pulls even heavy card stock through without issue. The cost of the ink cartridges are ridiculously high. To replace them cost as much as the printer.

Did not download software to my MAC book pro Venturaa (iOS). Worst part: Since a week, back & forth calling HP support in ?(Philippines) 1800 4746836 etc Has refused to take printer back. & refund. Think on Monday 20th nearly 2hrs 30 minutes with cust sport, Sales, Tech support cust sx says WANT TO RETURN THIS HP PRINTER NIGHTMARE & WANT MY MONEY BACK they say they have to escalate. Today on 22nd Wed again they say they have to escalate & they will call me within 24hrs. I am sick of HP bad printer, bad attitude towards customers & horrible cust support. WANT TO RETURN THIS HP PRINTER NIGHTMARE & WANT MY MONEY BACK. ASAP. We need a printer for our home home, want to use this $700/ to buy a printer from a good company. HP horrible..

What year is the production of this printer. I have a laserjet which is now 7 years old and according to your service department, my new HP computer does not support my old printer, therefor it no longer will scan. works great otherwise
You may want to look into a free application named NAPS2, Not Another PDF Scanner 2. It may work as long as you can install a TWAIN or WIA driver for the scanner portion of the MFP.

Connection Issue. My Mac mini can't connect to print documents via AirPrint. I have Google Fiber with an extension router. If I reset both modems, it will work for a while and then I'll eventually get the message that it cannot connect to the printer.
