Printer Good, Custom Set-Up Service Miserable
I am enjoying my printer, but had an awful and extremely time-consuming experience at the beginning. I ordered and paid for custom set-up in my home. When the printer was delivered, I expected HP to contact me about set-up. That never happened. It took me and my assistant several hours just to get in touch with someone who could help us. Our customer service person was great, but he was foiled in his attempts to help by HP's procedures. He told us we had to jump through a lot of hoops, including verifying delivery when we had HP's own notice that the printer had been delivered! After a couple more days of waiting around, we gave up. I asked for my money back and asked my son to set it up for me. Highly unsatisfactory.

HP Customer Service refused to initiate an exchange of a newly purchased printer
I am employed by BASF Chemical Company in Geismar, Louisiana which offered special pricing on printers and other HP products to their associates. I purchased an HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301fdn, AI-enabled printer on 02/26/26. It was delivered on 03/01/26, because of my travel and work obligations I was not able to open and setup the printer until 4/09/26. During setup I realized this particular model was not designed for wireless connections. After further research I realized that I should have purchased the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 4301 FDW, AI-enabled printer. I called the HP support line and was told I was not eligible for a refund or exchange. I explained that printer has not been used and has only been out of the box for less than 12 hours, the time it took for me to contact HP Support during their normal business hours. I explained that I did not want a refund just an exchange for the correct work tool thats required. I also relayed that I had no idea that I had 30 days to refund or exchange. I explained if I had known that I would have had one of my colleagues set the printer up in an effort to ensure that it was working and could accommodate my needs well within the required time period. Still to no avail. My question! Is this how HP does business with it's business partners/customers? I am truly unhappy with this situation. Please advise on a sensible resolution for my unsavory position.

Good looking , fast, and easy to use.
Good looking, fast, easy to use. The document scanner is awesome, it scans both sides of the page in one quick pass. The front paper tray is handy when you have a short run of a different paper. The setup is easy as all HP printers, just plug in and go.

Wifi not working
I was frustrated to find out that the wifi card was not working. HP support was helpful and they are sending a tech out to repare it. But it is just another week without a printer.

Horrible customer service
I requested an exchange multiple times but no one contacted me back. I ordered 2 printers and after opening one of them I realized it wasn’t wireless so I requested a refund or an exchange and I haven’t been contacted back yet

Once it is finally set up....
The printer itself is fantastic - the speed and quality of prints and copies is great. The interface set up was a bear and I had to hire someone to set up a Windows bypass patch for scanning. My experience with this printer and the HP Smart app leaves A LOT to be desired - HP needs to improve set up and interface with their printing app. And just for clarification, I run a USB cable from my ethernet connected PC and also use the wireless capability for printing from mobile devices.

I thought laser printers used toner. This one says it uses ink cartridges like my inkjet printer. Why?

Regarding scanning documents with the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP 3401fdn Printer, do I see the feeder to scan multiple pages at a time on the top of the device? If so, is it capable of scanning double sided documents or just single sided? Thanks!
Hello. Thanks for your question. You can scan up to 50 pages through the ADF (Auto Document Feeder) on top of this Laserjet Pro 4301fdn printer. You can also scan double-sided documents through the ADF.

Go to the Document tab and select Adjust documents.
