Compatible with Pavilion 16 and charges laptop
I left a review on a HP Thunderbolt 120W Dock G4 saying is was compatible with my Pavilion 16 which was wrong. I returned that for the USB-C Dock G5 which is actually the dock I ended up buying because it is truly compatible with the Pavilion 16. Charges the laptop, has all the ports I need to keep a clean desktop and connect to the Samsung TV I use for a monitor. It may be more expensive than other docking stations but they wouldn't do everything I needed. The only thing I that's comparable is the similar IBM ThinkPad dock which is around the same price.

It's fine but glitchy.
These don't seem to be very stable. I have them in my office and my third monitor has never worked properly with it. I've had others that just fail to connect to a laptop until we've rebooted the laptop 3+ times. The 1 year warranty is pretty limiting when you have issues like this.

Great docking station, all the features I need and works flawlessly so far.
I replaced a desktop PC that I built in 2010 because it would not support Windows 11. I went with a laptop to have with me when I travel and wanted to continue using my dual displays and wired network connection and sound system in my home office. This was very easy to install, update and configure and has all the features I needed.

The HP USB-C Dock G5 is amazing. I'm able to plug all my accessories (2 external drives, 1 exterior monitor, my ethernet cable, and my iPhone) to support my HP laptop computer. Makes working on my laptop a breeze. I would definitely recommend this Dock.

If I am understanding correctly, the power that goes into this dock also powers the laptop via the USB C plug that comes out of the front of this device? OR do you still need to use your laptop's power cord to the computer directly?
It will depend on the laptop that you have the HP USB-C Dock G5 for business (5TW10AA) connected to. This one supports up to 100W. You also want to make sure that your laptop has a USB-C port with power delivery and DisplayPort Alt. Thank you for your question.

Hello Paul and thanks for your question! The HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 is compatible with PCs without USB-C as well as newer USB-C PC models. If you don't have a legacy model PC to use the Dock the HP USB-C G5 Dock is your best choice. However, if you do have a legacy model then the HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2 is your best choice.

I used this G5 station with my Elite book and 2 monitors. I have just changed to a Zbook15, I was using an HDMI and a DisplayPort cable. Now when I plug in the Z book, it does get power and usb devices plugged into docking station connect except monitors.

The provided power supply may still be needed to provide charging if you don't have the correct USB-C port for power delivery. I have a HP Notebook 15-dy1079ms and I cannot get external monitors to work using the dock with HDMI or Display Port. The manual says to download drivers but the website doesn't have drivers. Looking for solutions to allow monitors to work with dock.
