How does feature Picture-in-Picture work?

The HP Series 7 Pro 24 inch WUXGA USB-C Monitor (model 724pu) includes the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature, allowing you to display content from multiple sources simultaneously. It essentially means that one source (usually a video) is overlaid on top of another. If I connect monitor A to my desktop USB-C (or DisplayPort), can I then connect a cable from Monitor A directly to monitor B using the DisplayPort OUT port of A to the DisplayPort IN of monitor B?
